Turn Plastic Hangers Into Festive Decor With A Simple DIY Hack

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to get excited for Christmas. If you're looking for an easy and affordable way to decorate your home, I've got the most brilliant idea for you.

Did you know that people are making snowflake decorations using plastic hangers from the dollar store? Yes, you heard me right, and you won't believe how good they look.

I have to admit I've never heard of this idea until now.

But now that I'm aware of it, I'm heading out to my nearest dollar store to stock up on plastic hangers. I can't believe this decor hack is so easy.

Here's what you will need to make one large snowflake: 16 plastic hangers (from the dollar store) and a bag of zip ties.

You can get any plastic hangers you like. If you want to make a small snowflake, you can get child-sized hangers instead.

Make sure you have a big empty area to work on these.

First, lay two hangers down with their bottoms lined up, almost so they look like a mirror image of each other. Then, do the same thing with another pair, but turn them 90 degrees in relation to the first pair. Make sure that one hook from each pair is touching.

Now, you just continue this pattern using a total of four pairs (eight hangers).

Then, repeat the process with eight new hangers. Place this second snowflake formation on top of the first one but angle the hangers to create a star shape.

Now, it's going to look like a snowflake.

Once you have created this snowflake pattern, you'll need to use zip ties to hold it all together.

Don't tie the zip ties too tight, and make sure you have some wiggle room. That way, you can still adjust things if they don't look right.

When you're happy with how everything looks, tie the zip ties tight to secure everything properly.

Then, you can cut off the ends of the zip ties so they're no longer visible. Now you need to decide how to decorate it.

People have decorated their snowflakes in many festive ways.

Some have spray painted them to look more like shiny snowflakes and added sparkly effects. They even attached mini LED lights so the snowflake lights up at night. Doesn't this one look amazing?

This lady even attached greenery around hers, and I've got to admit I love that idea.

I'm so excited to make one of these snowflakes myself. It looks so pretty. I can hardly wait, ha, ha! And, I can't get over how easy it is.

Check out how gorgeous this snowflake looks at night with all the LED lights attached to it.

Isn't it absolutely fantastic or what? Just looking at this makes me want to do it myself. This one is a selling point for me.

Here's a similar idea. How festive does that look to you?

I'm so in love with it. Who knew that you could make something that looks as pretty as this from simple plastic hangers? If this isn't genius then I don't know what is.

If you have a backyard you can do something like this and decorate your whole outdoor space.

This must've taken a while to do but in the end, it's so worth it. I think this person's neighbors must be so jealous.

Speaking of decorating your whole space, get a load of this idea.

Somebody put these hanger snowflakes all over their house. OMG, that's so genius. I never would have thought of doing something like this. Now that I see it, I want to do it, too.

You can add so many personal touches to this hanger wreath idea.

That way they can all look so unique. You've got the basics and then you can just run with it. This person did it and it turned out fabulous.

This one may be considered a little simpler in design, but is it really?

I think it still looks so beautiful. It's not as intricate as some other ones I've seen but I have to admit I like it. What about you?

I think this one looks a little bit different since they used black hangers here.

Even though it may not be as festive, I think it still touches on the same idea. I kind of like it for that very reason.

Oh my goodness, look at this beauty here.

I'm going to be bold and I say I'm stealing this idea for myself, ha, ha! It's exactly what I had in mind when I was thinking of doing it.

OMG, is this not the easiest yet most fun holiday decorating idea you have ever seen?

I can't believe I haven't heard of this before. Where has this been all my life? Are you as excited to make this as I am?
