Goldie Hawn Gives Update On 'First Wives Club' Sequel: 'We're Inching Our Way Towards It'

Some movies are best as standalones, but others leave you wanting more and more stories from the characters you've grown to love.

The First Wives Club is definitely one where I would watch a sequel, and a threequel, and all the movies that would come after it.

I'm getting at least one part of that wish!

*The First Wives Club* is basically a masterpiece.

I'm not basing this off my own experiences or anything, but what could possibly be more fun to watch than three women plotting to make sure their conniving exes get what's coming to them?!

Of course, they learn that all they really needed was friendship in the end, but getting there is half the fun.

The film has become a cult classic.

Obviously, a movie starring Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton was a recipe for success, and the hilarious and dramatic plot only further cemented it as a movie we'd all be watching for years to come.

That's why news of a sequel has been teasing us for years, making us worried that it might just never happen.

Worry not! Goldie Hawn has just dropped some reassurance.

In a new interview, Goldie gave a much-needed update on the progress.

"The script has to be approved, and right now they’ve just given us another draft, so I gotta read that,” Goldie said. "So, we’re inching our way toward it, let’s put it that way.”

Goldie (and Bette, and Diane) want to make sure that it's done properly — no terrible sequel to tarnish the legacy here!

“I think it’s all in the execution,” Goldie went on. “It’s the writing and the execution. Because giving it back to us, we can play with it and improvise. It’s like three tabla players, playing the tabla and talking to each other and answering. It’s pretty fabulous.”

I'm not quite sure what this means, but I'm sure it sounds wonderful coming from Goldie!

Goldie has fond memories of working with Bette and Diane.

"“Being with them was amazing,” she said. "We laughed and also worked together and also ran lines together. It was pretty fantastic."

I do a little more laughing-together than working-together with my favorite co-workers, but I definitely get this sentiment!

I can't wait!
