Alex Trebek's Wife Jean Breaks Her Silence Following His Death In Emotional Post

True love really does last forever.

The world was devastated by the news that we had lost Alex Trebek after his lengthy fight with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, November 8th, but no one was more devastated than his family and those that love him, including his wife of 30 years, Jean.

Jean has just broken her silence after the loss of her husband by sharing an emotional post on Instagram.

Alex Trebek felt like he was truly part of all of our families.

Watching him on Jeopardy! every night was a tradition for so many of us, and Alex's humor, warmth, and charm was definitely a huge part of it.

While many of us hoped he would beat the odds after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019, it was announced on November 8th that Alex had tragically passed away that morning.

*Jeopardy!* executive producer Mike Richards shared how Alex spent his final day exactly as he'd always wanted.

"He had a swing in his backyard that he loved, he actually rebuilt it earlier this year, he was very handy, I don't know if people know that. Even in his book he described that he described that he wanted his final day to be sitting on his swing, next to his wife Jean, and kind of watching the horizon," Mike revealed.

"And he got to do that," Mike said.

"He was coherent, he wasn't in pain, and the fact that he had a nice final day makes all of us in the Jeopardy! family feel much better," Mike finished.

It was clear that Alex's love for his wife, Jean, was incredibly powerful. We're so happy that Alex could spend his last day with his wife.

Jean Trebek has now broken her silence after Alex's passing, sharing a photo from their wedding day.

"My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity. Your expressions have truly touched our hearts," Jean wrote alongside the photograph that showed Alex in a white tux placing the ring on Jean's finger.

What a gorgeous photograph to commemorate this beautiful memory!

"Thank you so very, very much," Jean continued.

"Many Blessings to all, Jean Trebek," she signed off the post.

It's obvious that the couple truly shared something incredibly special together, and we're all thinking of Jean and their two children in this incredibly difficult and tragic time.

It's clear that Alex had an incredible amount of love for Jean.

In fact, Alex often mentioned Jean in updates on his health, in one even referring to Jean as his soul mate who has helped him survive his year long battle with pancreatic cancer.

"There were some good days, but a lot of not so good days," Alex shared in one video.

Alex refused to give up, however, "because that would have a massive betrayal—a betrayal of my wife and soul mate, Jean, who has given her all to help me survive.”

We can only hope to find a love like theirs in our life!

In fact, Alex one described not meeting Jean sooner in life as his only regret.

“I’m pretty satisfied with my life,” Alex told People in 2019, but admitted that he did have one regret. “But my wife Jean and I have been together almost 29 years, and I was thinking about President Bush when he died, and all the comments about his life about what a nice guy he is, and how he and his wife had been together 73 years."

"I thought, oh my gosh… if I’d just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a longer life together.”

Finding a love that lasts a lifetime is a rare feat, and we're so happy that Alex and Jean found each other.

Our thoughts are with all of Alex's loved ones and the entire Jeopardy! family during this incredibly difficult time.
