Fighting cancer is one of the hardest things anyone can go through and it can take so much inner strength, patience, optimism, and definitely the love and support of your friends and family.
Too many people think of a cancer diagnosis as hopeless, but every day there are fighters out there proving that it doesn’t have to be, like Shannen Doherty!
Shannen is an actress we all know, love, and remember from starring in *Beverly Hills 90210*.
You also probably saw her in Our House, Charmed , the cult classic Heathers , and BH90210 .
You also probably remember her as being one of the most famous Hollywood ‘bad girls’ of the ’90s, and her reputation of not letting anything walk all over her is still going strong.
For the record, we were also ‘bad girls’ of the ’90s, but there’s luckily less photographic evidence of that!
Shannen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but had gone into remission after treatment in 2017.

Unfortunately, Shannen revealed that the cancer had returned earlier this year.
“I’m stage four,” Shannen said on Good Morning America . “My cancer came back. I don’t think that I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways.”
“There are definitely days where I say, ‘Why me?’ and then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else?’”

“Who else besides me deserves this? None of us do,” Shannen went on.
What an incredibly mature way to look at it — it’s clear that Shannen’s rumored diva behavior, if it ever really existed, is definitely behind her now!
Shannen has given another update on her health while speaking to Entertainment Tonight .
“I’m good. I love it when people say, ‘We’re praying for you,'” Shannen said about her health.

“There comes a point where you go, ‘I got this. Like I’m fine, I’m good.’ There’s a lot of people in the world that could use prayers and I’m feeling great,” Shannen said.
What an incredibly selfless attitude! We could all stand to think more about others!
“I have an amazing medical team behind me,” Shannen went on to say.

“I’m doing better than OK. I’m doing well,” she said. “I feel strong and healthy and confident and happy.”
We love to hear it! It’s so important and incredibly powerful to have a positive attitude during this battle, and Shannen knows that more than anyone!
Shannen emphasized this herself.

“I want to really push for education and awareness and raise more money, and I want people to not hear Stage 4 cancer and think of the person as gray and falling over. People instantly think it’s a death sentence, and it’s not,” she said.
You go, girl!
Another celebrity who has kept things positive during their cancer battle is Jeff Bridges.

The actor, known for The Big Lebowski, True Grit, Crazy Heart, The Contender and loads more, recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with Lymphoma at the age of 70, but he hasn’t let that get him down!
Jeff kept things just as positive as you’d expect from The Dude himself.

“Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery,” he tweeted , adding that he was grateful for all thoughts and prayers sent his way.
We’re definitely throwing our own into that pile!
“This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness & gratitude & good old fashioned love,” Jeff shared in a further update.

“I’m feeling so much of it comin’ my way, & man, I appreciate it,” he continued . “It’s contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus.”
Positive attitudes and good vibes can really go a long way, even in the darkest of circumstances!
