1. She comes from a famous family.

Her father, Tony, was an actor who has appeared in more than 100 movies.

Then her mother, Janet Leigh, was an actress, singer, and dancer. In addition to films like Psycho, she starred in Broadway shows.

2. Her film debut was in *Halloween*.

She's the original Scream Queen.

She starred in the very first Halloween in 1978 as Laurie Strode. After the first movie did so well, she starred in several horror movies in 1980 alone.

This included *Prom Night*, *Terror Train*, and *The Fog*.

She even reprised her role as Laurie in the 2018 version of Halloween and is set to star in the final Halloween movie, Halloween Ends, in 2022.

3. She never thought that she'd become an actress.

She may have come from a family of actors, but Jamie Lee told The New Yorker that she thought she'd grow up to become a police officer.

But since her grades weren't good, acting was her next choice.

4. She adopted her children.

This Freaky Friday actress has a special relationship with both of her adopted kids.

She and husband actor Christopher Guest adopted two kids, a boy and a girl, Annie (1986) and Thomas (1996).

Well, love at first watch, as she saw him in This is Spinal Tap and told her friend, "Oh, I'm going to marry that guy."

The couple have now been married for over 36 years.

When asked what her secret to a long-lasting marriage is, she got frank.

"Don't get divorced," she told Today, plain and simple.

"It's a fascinating thing. I could write a book on marriage called 'Don't Leave.'"

9. She's been open about her substance abuse problems.

For 10 years, the actress had been nursing a secret Vicodin addiction and no one knew.

"I was the wildly controlled drug addict and alcoholic. I never did it when I worked. I never took drugs before 5 p.m. I never, ever took painkillers at 10 in the morning," she told Variety.

At one point, she even stole her friend's pills.

"So I wrote her a letter and I said, ‘I’ve done a terrible thing, and I’ve stolen your pills from you, and I’m sorry,'" she said.

Thankfully, after reading an article on painkiller addiction in 1993, she sought help. She's been sober ever since.

10. She loves video games.

Her love all started when her son introduced her to the game Street Fighter.

She even attended EVO, San Diego Comic-Con, and BlizzCon in 2015, dressed up in a Vega mask.

11. She had gray teeth as a kid.

This stemmed from her mother taking tetracycline, an antibiotic, when she was pregnant with her.

"My teeth were gray. I was not pretty. I was cute," she told The New Yorker.

While she attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, it was the only school that took her D average plus 840-combined SAT.

Since her mother was the most famous person to graduate from there, nepotism could have been why she was accepted.

"Today I’d be diagnosed with some learning disability or learning difference," she told *The New Yorker*.

"I am a great reader, but I don’t retain that much. I moved to three high schools in four years."

13. She has several half-siblings.

This was to be expected given the fact that her dad had been married six times.

Tragically, she lost her half-brother, Nicholas, when he was only 22 from a heroin overdose.

"I do not like horror movies. I do not say this for a joke, although it gets a laugh, I really don’t. There’s nothing I like about being scared. I mean, [expletive] Aladdin scared me. I’m not joking! You know when Jafar becomes a dragon? With his red eyes and stuff? That shit scared me," Cinema Blend reported.

16. She is a philanthropist.

Curtis is a known activist, especially when it comes to charities that support children.

She is on the board of the Starlight Children's Foundation and is a spokesperson for Children Affected by AIDS Foundation.

She was honored by Kidsave back in 2007.

She is a supporter and advocate for same-sex marriage and civil rights and is part of the American Foundation for Equal Rights.

“I knew my dad had an issue because I had an issue and he and I shared drugs,” Curtis revealed to Variety's Recovery Issue.

“I did cocaine and freebased once with my dad,” Curtis added. “But that was the only time I did that, and I did that with him.”
