Tom Felton is most known as Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter franchise.
But it is time to get to know Felton outside of those platinum blonde locks.

1. He didn’t know what *Harry Potter* was when he auditioned for the role of Draco Malfoy.
Gasp! “I was one of the late bloomers, so to speak,” he said on ITV1 breakfast show, Daybreak .
“I was probably the only child in the country who auditioned not having a clue what Harry Potter was, per se.”
It’s a good thing he landed the role since the *Harry Potter* books got him into reading.
“Reading wasn’t a particularly cool subject back at school when I was 11 or 12, and JK [Rowling] kind of changed that for me.”
2. When he starred in his first *Harry Potter* movie, he had no idea he would end up doing seven of them.
He was only 11 when he first auditioned, so this makes sense.
But Felton told Collider that he was told that there was only a small chance that he’d be asked to come back if there were additional movies.
3. His natural hair color is brown.
Yup!
Since his character, Draco Malfoy, was known for platinum blonde locks, Felton had to bleach his hair blonde every 10 days.
This was something that he hated doing as a kid.
“The worst thing was dying my hair blonde,” Felton said in press conference in 2008.
“It built some super human resistance but it seems to have survived.” he finished.
He’s kept a bit of the blonde since then!
4. Emma Watson had a huge crush on him.
This adorable confession was made during a 2012 interview on The Jonathan Ross Show .
Emma said that she liked Tom from the time she was 10-12. I mean, hey, who can blame the girl?
“Between the ages of ten and twelve, I had a really terrible crush on Tom Felton,” she said.
“To the extent that I would go into work in the morning and look down the numbers on the call sheet to see if he was going to be in.”
5. He broke Emma’s heart.
Ugh, such a Draco thing to do.
“He totally knew [she had a crush on him] and the thing is that he’d tell everyone, ‘I see her in a younger, sisterly way,’ and it just broke my heart. It still does,’ Emma said .
6. He was 12 when he had his first kiss.
This happened during a little game called Spin the Bottle.
He told Seventeen that he lied about having kissed someone before this. “I was so nervous, and the bottle landed on me. The kiss was okay, but not too memorable.”
7. He loves playing a villian.
He certainly did a good job of that as Draco. But the actor even wants to tackle a James Bond villain one day.
“I’m such an admirer, I am an admirer of villains, especially working with so many great ones,” he told Collider .
8. He’s a singer.
He’s released a few covers online, like when he covered “Happier” by Ed Sheeran.
In this clip, he even went around singing and strumming his guitar in Prague, Czech Republic. Surprisingly, no one recognized him!
9. He has an adorable bromance with Daniel Radcliffe.
Felton even thinks that Daniel’s character was crushing on his character.
This was revealed during a game of AOL’s “Fact of Fanfic” with his co-star, Rupert Grint.
“Harry was constantly crushing on Draco. He just couldn’t hide it,” the actor said. I’m sure shippers loved to hear that.
When asked if he had ever read Harry Potter fan-fictions, Felton told AOL, “I’ve seen some pictures, some alarming ones.”
10. He sort of fell into acting.
He told Collider that he was “cursed with age.”
“You do that stupid thing at 12 years old when you say something and it kind of sticks with you for the rest of your life.”
Before Harry Potter , he thought that he would be a fishery manager.
“Certainly in the last couple of years, I’ve really grasped how lucky we’ve all been, not only to be acting professionally but to be acting in such a fantastic project.”
Harry Potter has also led to other great roles, such as Planet of the apes , Ophelia , and Anna and the King .
11. He loves fishing.
Whenever he’s not filming something, he likes to fishing for carp.
“They are the most beautiful fish, and you don’t need to eat them,” Felton told Scholastic . “You can just put them back and catch them again.”
“It’s a less brutal sport as opposed to eating your catch.”
Since he said that he originally wanted to be a fishery manager, we know where his career path will take him if he ever quits acting!
12. His celeb crush was once Megan Fox.
This makes it all the more ironic that Fox is currently dating Machine Gun Kelly, AKA another tall, blonde-haired dude.
Felton told Seventeen that he fell for the star after seeing her in Transformers .
13. He disappeared after *Harry Potter* for a bit.
After playing the same character for so many years, the actor struggled to find his footing post- Harry Potter .
He even told The Daily Mail that he was more nervous in auditions as an adult than he was as a kid.
