Boy, 11, Comes To Grandma's Rescue During Medical Emergency — In Her Mercedes

When 11-year-old PJ Brewer-Laye realized his grandma was in need of medical attention, he knew exactly which vehicle he would use to help drive her to safety — her very own Mercedes-Benz.

As 11Alive reported, Angela Brewer-Laye was on a walk when she began feeling ill, and that was when she was treated to a rather surprising sight: her grandson pulling up beside her on the street in her own luxury vehicle, ready to take her wherever she needed to go.

Last week, the pair decided to take a little stroll through their Indianapolis neighborhood together.

PJ zoomed up and down the road on his go-kart, while his grandma followed nearby on foot.

When they were about a mile and a half away from their home, Angela's blood sugar dropped, and she began feeling dizzy as her vision also blurred.

Resting against a nearby stop sign, she continued to struggle to see clearly. That was when a vehicle pulled up next to her.

“I was leaning against the stop sign, and all of a sudden, I look to my right, and I see my car — my Mercedes-Benz coming towards me," she told 11Alive. "Just in an easy, calm manner, it was coming towards me."

“I looked in the car. It was him — it was PJ."

As it turns out, her grandson had noticed his grandma stop and, realizing she needed medical attention, raced his go-kart back to her house.

There, he ditched the juvenile ride for something a bit more luxurious — like his grandmother's Mercedes-Benz.

“He drove me home, and he pulled in the driveway," Angela recalled of his heroic rescue. "And when I say he pulled in the driveway so precise, because my driveway is kind of narrow … He didn’t go up the curb, in the grass, nothing. He pulled in the driveway, in the garage, and helped me out the car."

Apparently that wasn't the first time young PJ had found himself behind the wheel of a full-size vehicle, but it *was* the first time he ever drove one on the road.

Angela explained that her husband often allows the youngster to re-arrange the cars in their driveway — under his grandpa's supervision, of course.

Although making the switch from simply parking cars to actually driving one was likely daunting, especially during an emergency, Angela said PJ was "calm and collected" behind the wheel.

As for why PJ picked her Mercedes, out of all the available cars, Angela suspects it was simply the easiest vehicle to grab at the time.

And that wasn't the only time he got to get behind the wheel, either. After she had recovered, Angela allowed him to take the Mercedes for another short spin around the block, with her in the passenger seat filming his impressive skills behind the wheel.

“This child is only 11 years old and drives like a pro,” she told 11Alive, adding that her grandson is an "extra special little boy."
