Frida, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Grown Ups, and Savages star, Salma Hayek, has been a major inspiration, not only to women, but to the Latinx community.

From moving from Mexico to Hollywood to pursue acting, she has had to overcome a lot of adversity to become successful.

Here are some interesting facts about the Marvel star that fans didn't know!

1. Her favorite color is "midnight blue".

"I went through my purple phase-maybe a bit too much! I also like reds and blues. Right now, I think it's midnight blue," she said when asked what her favorite color is by InStyle.

2. She believes that if anybody is surprised by who she is married to, it is a sign of racism.

“A lot of people are very shocked that I married who I married. And some people are even intimidated now by me,” she told Town & Country.

“But it’s another way of showing racism. They can’t believe this Mexican ended up in the life that she has, and they’re uncomfortable around me.”

3. She was born in Mexico, and she is of Mexican and Lebanese descent.

Her mother was a Mexican opera singer, while her father was a Lebanese entrepreneur in the oil industry.

She is one of the most famous Mexican actresses in Hollywood, and with good reason.

4. She graduated high school three years early.

Because Salma was so advanced, she was able to breeze through high school and graduated at the age of 15.

The following year she went on to study at Mexico City’s Universidad Iberoamericana, where she eventually dropped out to pursue acting instead.

5. Her parents allowed her to drop out of university to pursue acting because they initially thought it was just a phase.

“He let me do it," she said of her father to Town & Country.

"But not because he thought I was going to stick to it, and then I stuck to it, and nobody is more proud of my career than my father.”

6. She doesn't want to dye her hair because she is curious to see how she will look with greys.

"I don’t dye [my hair] because I am curious to see how I am going to look with this. I am sure in the next movie they will say sorry you will have to dye it but I am enjoying watching them come in. I don’t have any Botox. Maybe later I will change my mind but for now, I am comfortable being fifty. I am comfortable in my own skin," she told Holmes Place.

7. She is a feminist.

"I think that in America I see a lot of people when they become inconvenienced they get put away. I believe we have to deal with the inconvenience. For some, I think there are different cases. I do feel we have to respect their wisdom and love and honour them and care for them in their old age because they were there for us. Or even if they were not, I think it is a virtue to respect our elders."

9. If she could have any superpower, it would be the power to make everyone be kind to one another.

"I don't know if it's motherhood that's surprising or that Valentina is so surprising. I am in awe of her-she's very magical. I feel so connected to her but at the same time I discover something new about her every day," she told InStyle.

12. Her number one piece of advice when it comes to skincare is to always wash your face before going to bed.

"Never go to sleep without washing your face, no matter how tired you are," she told InStyle.
