Mayim Bialik Answers Internet's Most Asked Questions About Her: 'I Don't Think I'm A Genius'

The Big Bang Theory alum, Mayim Bialik, recently caught up with WIRED to answer the most asked questions about her by fans on the Internet.

Now, I can safely say that any question I ever had or could ever have about her have been answered and I can finally sleep at night knowing that the mystery that is Mayim, has been solved.

There is a fairly good chance that if you're reading this, you're a huge *Big Bang Theory* fan — and I can't say I blame you.

It was, undeniably, one of the most iconic sitcoms of our time.

But most importantly, it introduced the world to Mayim Bialik.

It may not have been her *first* acting gig, but it was certainly her biggest!

But for everything we learned about her over the years, watching Big Bang Theory, the world still had a lot of obscure, unanswered questions that needed answers.

Thankfully, in a recent Q&A, Mayim answered all of the burning questions that fans have been dying to know all this time.

For starters, "How did Mayim Bialik get into acting?," read the first question.

"When I was 11 years old, my parents typed a letter on a typewriter to different kids agents with a picture of me that my dad took in the backyard and said, 'This kid looks like Bette Midler and Barabara Streisand," she explained.

"And thus, I picked an agent from the ones who were interested based on that weird letter and my weird face," she continued.

"My first audition was to play DJ on a little show called, Full House."

(You may have heard of that one!)

"And the note that the casting agent gave to my manager was, 'She talks too fast.' It's true," she recalled.

The next question, understandably, was: "Is Mayim Bialik a genius?"

To which he replied: "I don't think I'm a genius. If you're talking about IQ classifications, I don't even know what those are. So, no."

"What is Mayim Bialik's religion?," the next question read.

"My religious affiliation is, I am Jewish," she said. "Person of the Jewish faith."

Fun fact: Mayim minored in Jewish studies in university! So she knows a lot about her faith.

The following question read: "What is Mayim Bialik's new show?"

"Glad you asked," Mayim quickly replied. "Jim Parsons and I are producing a show called Call Me Kat. It is about a very unusual woman who does not have it all, but is still happy."

"What languages does Mayim Bialik speak?," the next question asks.

"If I had to find a bathroom or a hospital, I could do that in English, pretty sure," she joked. "I could do that in Spanish, I could do that in Hebrew, and I can read and write Yiddish, which is the language of Eastern European Jews."

"I can do some sign language," she added. "I know the alphabet and some basic signs, and I speak the language of love."

"Is Mayim Bialik related to Bette Midler?," someone else asked.

"I am not related to Bette Midler. But I did play Bette Midler's character when I was in Beaches when I was 12 years old."

"But we're not related. We just look alike."

"Is Mayim Bialik a real scientist," asked another.

"I mean, it depends on your definition of 'real scientist'," she explained. "I do hold a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA."

"I don't currently live and make my living as a scientist. But I guess I'm a real scientist, yes," she added.

"Is Mayim Bialik single?," another fan asked.

"I'm dating someone," she dished. But she didn't really give us much more info about her relationship.

"But, technically still open, I guess," she clarified.

"Are Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuoco friends?," someone asked.

"Well, we worked together for nine years," Mayim said. "Then I went to her wedding, and celebrated things with her."

"I would say we're friends," she added, nervously.

On that same note, someone asked: "Are Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons friends?"

To which Mayim replied: "Yeah, Jim Parsons and I check in with each other in life, we're working together on this new show that we're producing together."

"I've been to life events and know his family," she went on. "Yeah, we're friends."

"Can Mayim Bialik really play the harp?," the following question asked.

"I learned to play the harp for Big Bang Theory," she said.

"I'm a piano player, a bass player, and a trumpet player," she went on.

"I did learn to play the harp rudimentarily. For the episode where Leonard and Penny get married, that is not me playing the harp 'cause they wanted a really elaborate, fancy thing."
