James Blunt Reveals He Got Scurvy After Eating An All-Meat Diet To Prove His Masculinity

Masculinity can be a weird thing to try to prove, since it means different things to different people and nearly everyone has their own idea of what a super masculine person acts like, thinks, says, or does.

Musician James Blunt had his own ideas about it which lead to some not-so-macho health outcomes, like scurvy, as he's revealed in a new interview.

James Blunt might be best known for 'You're Beautiful,' but he's a man of many distinctions.

James went to the University of Bristol to study aerospace manufacturing engingeering and sociology, eventually graduating with a Bachelors of science with honors. He also is a licenced pilot and served six years in the British Army.

In a new interview, James has revealed that his time at the University of Bristol wasn't all fun and games.

"On the sociology side of things there were 170 girls and only three boys, of which all the girls were vegetarian or vegans,” James discussed on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie Ware.

In a display of masculinity, James decided to take the opposite route of the girls.

“So out of principle I decided I’d become a carnivore and just lived on mince, some chicken, maybe with some mayonnaise.”

“It took me about six to eight weeks to get very unhealthy and see a doctor, who then said, ‘I think you’ve got the symptoms of scurvy,'" James revealed, adding, “[The doctor] said you are really lacking in vitamin C so I took it upon myself to drink orange juice every night."

"Then I nearly developed acid reflux."

That's definitely some impressive length to go to just to prove your masculinity, but I think James would probably agree that it was not worth it!
