Tracee Ellis Ross Fought Back Against Always Doing 'Lady Chores' On 'Black-Ish'

Black-ish is one of my favorite shows on the air right now, and it makes sense that it's so good given that its creators and stars are so funny and awesome in real life.

It's always great to hear that the people involved in your favorite shows really care about the messages they're sending, and Tracee Ellis Ross clearly cares about the messages on Black-ish.

Tracee Ellis Ross stars on *Black-ish* as Rainbow "Bow" Johnson.

Bow is hilarious, kind, super smart, and always stands up for what she believes in, herself, and her family, so it makes sense that the actress playing her would also carry those very important and enviable qualities in real life.

Tracee has revealed she didn't want Rainbow falling into a "domestic wife" stereotype.

On an episode of Can't Stop Watching Tracee said of being a sitcom wife, "What I did speak up about from the beginning was, 'Why am I carrying laundry? Why am I the person in the kitchen cooking right now, when this has nothing to do with the scene?'"

"Even sometimes when it does have something to do with the scene."

"And I started coining them as 'lady chores.' Why am I doing the lady chores? Can’t Anthony Anderson do the lady chore? Because I don’t believe they’re lady chores. I believe they’re house chores," Tracee said, adding that when it comes to relationships that "I don’t believe that we should assume" when it comes to relationships and chores.

Tracee explained why she felt that way.

"I believe every relationship is a negotiation between two people about what each of them feels comfortable doing."

We love to see Tracee stand up for herself, and we love to see the chores split evenly between the couple on screen!
