We have known her name since she sang her heart to stardom on American Idol.

Since then, she has climbed her way to the top of the charts (and our hearts).

She encourages women to embrace the bodies they are in, always keeps it real and has overcome a lot to get to where she is. There is nothing to not love about her!

1. She is a champion for body positivity:

She is in good company with other body-loving celebs.

"My happy weight changes. Sometimes I eat more; sometimes I play more," she told Self. "I’ll be different sizes all the time."

"When people talk about my weight, I’m like, ‘You seem to have a problem with it; I don’t. I’m fine!’"

She even once tweeted about the struggles of working out. “People say it’s good for your heart…. but people also say red wine is good for your heart. I mean, I’m just stating facts here people."

This happened after her L.A. apartment complex burned down. She ended up driving back home to her hometown of Burleson, Texas.

This move ended up changing her life, as she soon auditioned for American Idol in Dallas.

3. She was an extra on the television show *Sabrina, The Teenage Witch*:

This took place months before her audition on American Idol. She was just 19!

The pair were married for seven years and have two kids together: River Rose, five, and Remington Alexander, four.

A source close to the couple told People that quarantining in Montana together has may have led to the divorce.

"It was a stressful time," they said.

"Things had changed in their marriage, and the split was a while coming," another source said.

"They both work so hard. It's nearly impossible to enjoy each other, especially with the children needing constant attention."

The American Idol winner told The Los Angeles Times that she "cried" a lot and even tried to get her lawyers to get her out of the film.

“I just didn’t believe in it, first of all. I’m not a beach blanket-movie kind of girl," she said about the film, which was centered around two people who fall in love during Spring Break.

"And I didn’t want it to deter or ruin any chance of me being able to go down the path I actually auditioned for on ‘Idol.'"

6. She voiced the animated character Moxy in *UglyDolls*:

A ton of people were surprised to learn this!

“This role could not be more me,” she told The Los Angeles Times. "I get really nervous acting, so I don’t generally do it. I don’t like it."

She continued on by saying:

"I tend to stay in my comfort zone. But this was kind of awesome, because I thought: I’m not going to have to act ... this is basically my character in life."

7. Before she was famous, she worked odd jobs to make ends meet:

“I worked at Six Flags. I did the singing and dancing, like all those shows," she said in an interview with NPR radio host, Guy Raz.

"Any option that was available to make money singing, I was like, ‘OK.’”

In addition to this, she worked as a cocktail waitress, at a comedy club, at Papa John’s and Subway.

The Kelly Clarkson Show was just renewed for its second season!

“Having a talk show was obviously never a job I dreamed about,” the singer told InStyle. “But it’s turning out to be just as fulfilling as my music career.”

9. She once said that she doesn't identify as a feminist:

Not surprisingly, her comments to Time earned her some flack.

“I wouldn’t say [I’m a] feminist, that’s too strong," she said. "I think when people hear feminist it’s just like, ‘Get out of my way I don’t need anyone.'"

She later clarified her comments in another interview with the publication.

"I’m a feminist in the sense of saying I believe in equal rights. I think I got misled with that question in the last interview with y’all." she said.

She once turned down two full-ride scholarships to The University of Texas at Austin and the Berklee College of Music.

She explained the reason behind her decision to NPR radio host, Guy Raz.

“I knew that I’d rather go out and almost, like an apprentice-style," she shared.

"Just start doing background vocals for people and then just kind of work my way up. So I chose to move to L.A. randomly.”

It obviously worked out!

11. She was abandoned by her father when she was six:

"I don't think you get rid of [abandonment issues]," Kelly said in an interview with Glamour UK magazine's Glamour Unfiltered talk show.

She even wrote songs about the experience. This includes her emotional hit song "Because of You".

"That’s why I write songs about it and you connect with all these people that you don't know," she said.
