Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are two of the most outspoken celebrities when it comes to activism, whether its for Coronavirus relief or whether its bringing awareness to racial inequality and the struggles of others.
Some have found this hard to reconcile with the couple's previous history, which Ryan has taken the time to address in a new interview.
Having met in 2010 and having gotten married in 2012, with three lovely daughters, you might think that one of Hollywood's favorite couples would have no regrets when it comes to their relationship, but it appears that that is not the case.
The two were married at the Boone Hall Plantation, and received many criticisms for getting married and having a celebration at a site where great injustice and tragedy had occurred.
In a new interview, Ryan addresses this controversy and claims it is a choice that they regret.
"It's impossible to reconcile," Ryan added, before explaining how they came to have their wedding there. “What we saw at the time was a wedding venue on Pinterest. What we saw after was a place built upon devastating tragedy."
"A giant [expletive] mistake like that can either cause you to shut down or it can reframe things and move you into action. It doesn't mean you won't [expletive] up again. But repatterning and challenging lifelong social conditioning is a job that doesn't end," he said.
