Being embarrassed by your parents is a rite of passage and a fact of life for pretty much every kid out there, and it goes on no matter how old you get. I think parents probably have a little bit too much fun doing it, but I would never dream of taking it away from them.
Rob Lowe's son, John, just got a hefty dose of it, thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow.
John is no stranger to giving his parents a hard time and fully taking advantage of their relationship on social media, like when he had pretty much the best sarcastic comment on a picture Rob Lowe shared on his Instagram.
"If you’re not wet from your workout, you’re probably not working hard enough!" Rob wrote in the caption to this shot, which was a pretty Chris Traeger thing to say.
Of course, for as much as parents love to embarrass their kids, kids love to do it right back.
"Read 'em and weep, kiddo!" his dad replied to his comment, showing that he was clearly not afraid to clap back.
Recently, it's been John's mom, Sheryl, who's been making the headlines after a new interview where Gwyneth Paltrow mentions her.
"It was so cool to have someone treat me like an adult and see me as like a young woman and someone who is sexual," Gwyneth said of meeting Sheryl Berkhoff, Rob's wife and John's mom. Gwyneth also revealed some pretty NSFW details about what she learned from Sheryl.
"She just made me feel so free," Gwyneth said.
While it was probably pretty fun for Rob and Gwyneth to reminisce about their younger days and Sheryl's wilder ways, it wasn't nearly as fun for John.
"2020 has been a wild ride, but this has settled it for me. I choose death by murder hornets," John joked.
We don't blame him — any kid would be mortified to see headlines about their parents like this!
"I’d be invoicing your mum and Gwyneth Paltrow for the therapy you’re going to need after this..." one fan replied, which seems like a pretty good idea — I don't think either of them are hurting for the cash!
Another added, "I'm so sorry. I wouldn't know what's worse finding this out publicly with everyone else in the world or walking in on your parents during naughty time, lol."
