10+ Moving Hacks That Make The Process Less Of A Pain In The Butt

I can't tell you how much I despise moving. I've had to do it a few times in my life and I've dreaded all of them. First, there's all that endless packing. Then, there's the stress of moving everything efficiently on that one day.

I honestly can't take it. So if there are any moving hacks that make this process less painful I'm all over it.

1. Make A Box Of Essentials

One important step in prepping for your move is to get a box of essentials ready. I mean you wouldn't want to run out of toilet paper or paper towels now, would you? Nope.

2. Pack Your Closet This Way

Here's one tip I can definitely pass on to you. I did this with all my clothes hanging in my closet. It's so much easier than packing them away. Then you just hang them back up.

3. Store Your Cables Like This

One way to use up those empty toilet paper holders is to store your cables in them. This will also make keeping them all organized on moving day that much more efficient. No? I think so.

4. Pack Books In Suitcases

Did you ever think about packing all those heavy books in your rolling suitcase instead of a box? Well, think about it. Now you can just roll them around with ease. I think this is genius.

5. Store Your Spices Inside Pots

Can you believe somebody was so smart that they actually packed all their spices inside of their crockpot? Ha, ha! Why would you just leave it empty? I mean, that makes perfect sense. Am I right?

6. Use Styrofoam Cups For Glasses

I was so paranoid when I was packing all my glassware. I didn't want anything to get shattered. I wish I knew about this styrofoam trick for packing wine glasses. This is really helpful. Isn't it?

7. Pack Stuff With Towels

Another way to protect your precious cargo when you run out of bubble wrap is to use towels. We all have extra towels. Right? Well, put them to good use then. They can be washed later and don't make any waste.

8. Keep Furniture Parts With Furniture Pieces

One good tip I can give you has to do with disassembling and assembling furniture: Get a Ziploc bag for all those screws and washers and tape it to one piece of the furniture.

9. Color-Coordinate Furniture Pieces With Stickers

Speaking of furniture, make sure you take pictures of your assembled piece so you know how to re-do it. Also, put color-coordinated stickers on those pieces so you know what goes together. You'll thank me later.

10. Pack Plates Vertically

Apparently, if you store your plates vertically in the box they have much less chance of getting broken. I wish I knew that trick. Why didn't I think of that when we were moving? What a great tip.

11. Use Plastic Wrap To Pack

I have a big dresser with lots of drawers. It would take me ages to repack them all. So instead we wrapped them up with plastic wrap and voilĂ . It was so much less work that way.

12. Protect Those Picture Frames

Oh my goodness, I wish I known about this pool noodle hack. We racked our brains to figure out how to pack our framed art. This way looks so much easier than what we ended up doing.

13. Put Those Zip-Ties To Good Use

If you don't want all your cutlery to get loose while moving, then just use zip-ties. It's a much better option than using elastic bands. Those can snap on you at an inconvenient time.

I know moving is stressful. I really don't enjoy it one bit.
