Company Turns Shipping Containers Into Modern Pools

So, this is a shocker, but humanity has found yet another use for shipping containers.

In an effort to contribute to sustainability and to cut costs on otherwise expensive things, people have turned to shipping containers to create pools in their yards. And guys? They're absolutely stunning.

There's honestly few downsides to shipping container pools.

I feel like it goes without saying, but the install is a breeze. Rather than having to dig a pit in your yard and fill it with concrete and tile, companies can put the container right on your lawn.

Of course, laying a foundation is an option.

Many people choose to stylize the area around their new pools, including brick, concrete, or even plain 'ol gravel foundations. They also build decks and patios around the containers!

I want to swim in that pool RIGHT now.

They can also be installed in the ground.

ModPools

This is still a way cheaper and faster option than your standard pool — no concrete or true heavy lifting involved. Installing it in the ground definitely gives it a more sleek appearance, don't you think?

The cost of shipping container pools is way lower than normal pools.

According to Canadian-based company ModPool, the cost of a shipping container pool runs around $35,000 (that's about $25,400 USD). That's about 1/4 the price of a regular, in-ground pool.

And they can be tricked out with all the pool staples.

Including jets, waterfalls, and infinity edges! Don't forget that in-pool lighting, too.

However, that is not nearly the coolest thing a ModPool can do. Get a load of this:

They can be turned into hot tubs.

YEAH. The entire premise of ModPool becoming a company (and thus turning shipping containers into pools) was actually because the couple behind it wanted to see if they could figure out how to make a hot tub/pool combination.

They succeeded.

There's two options: the first involves a divider, which you can buy from ModPool. It will split your pool in two and allow for one side to become a hot tub!

The second option?

GIANT BATHTUB. Thanks to the built-in heaters and ModPool's own app, you can heat the entire pool to 104F. I think this might be my idea of heaven, tbh.

You can hit up ModPool for your own.

They offer free quotes right here.

Or, if you're like me and fully cannot afford a pool (and also live in an apartment), their Instagram is a great place to be. Hey, we can dream, right?
