This all happened in 2016 when she uploaded 'Ocean Eyes' to SoundCloud so that her dance teacher could choreograph a dance to it.

In the end, the song ended up going viral.

"I was at Starbucks one time, and Finneas called, like, 'Dude! Our song got 1,000 plays. We made it,'" she recalled to *Vogue*.

"We were just so over the moon about it getting 1,000 plays. We were like, that’s it. We’ve reached our goal. We thought we were bosses. And then it just kept going. And then Hillydilly found it . . . I didn’t realize how big it was getting until it had reached 50,000 plays," she said.

2. Her brother, Finneas, helps her make her music:

These two truly are a dynamic duo.

Finneas helped write and produce all 14 songs on her debut album, "When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?"

He's even the one who wrote 'Ocean Eyes'!

Initially, people believed that the 18-year-old was doing it to avoid becoming sexualized.

But back in December 2019, she set the record straight with the real reason. And it's honestly so damn heartbreaking.

"Me and my body's relationship has been the most toxic relationship you could even imagine," she told CBS This Morning host Gayle King. .

"That was the main reason for [dressing in baggier clothing]," she admitted.

"It's less about, 'My body is ugly, I don't want you to see it,'" Billie said.

4. She has Tourettes Syndrome:

In 2019, Billie got candid about the syndrome that causes involuntary movements and vocalizations known as tics.

"I think I also really learned that a lot of my fans have it, which made me feel kind of more at home with saying it, and also I felt like there was a connection there," she said.

5. She's a hardcore Belieber:

We can only imagine how much she was fan-girling when she got to collaborate on her song 'Bad Guy' with Justin!

After all, she's been obsessed with the Canadian singer ever since she was 12!

"That was like my first love," she said about Justin in a radio interview with KROQ.

"That was the person I was in love with, in my head he was in love with me, it was like a relationship with a person."

Here they are meeting presumably for the first time at Coachella. So cute!

6. She was homeschooled:

Her parents told Rolling Stone that they were “mostly unemployed” actors who put their careers on hold to homeschool their kids.

Instead of using a formal curriculum, the kids were allowed to explore whatever interested them.

“Our whole stance was, general knowledge is all,” her dad, Patrick, said.

“You need to know why the sky is blue, but you don’t need to memorize a bunch of esoterica you’ll never use.”

In the end, their method paid off, as Billie passed her high school equivalency exam and graduated at 15.

7. She's obsessed with *The Office*:

So obsessed, in fact, that she included parts of the episode "Threat Level Midnight" into her song, 'My Strange Addiction.'

She even once got quizzed on the show by none other than Rainn Wilson, aka, Dwight Schrute!

8. She's vegan:

She explained why she made the switch from vegetarian to vegan in a Tumblr post in 2018.

"I love animals and I just think there's no point in creating something out of an animal when the animal is already there. Leave animals alone," she wrote.

This was the Los Angeles Children's Choir.

"It’s [the choir] helped me learn the proper way to sing and not ruin my voice completely. But I’ve just always sung, all the time," she told Vogue.

"I sang so much that my family had to shush me," she continued.

This all happened when she was eight.

By the time she was 11, she told Vogue that she was writing her own songs!

It's a good thing she learned so much from the choir since it clearly paid off!

10. She's regularly texts a bunch of popular celebs:

She's definitely the coolest 18-year-old around. During an interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that she has everyone in her phone from Ariana Grande to Avril Lavigne.

She even frequently texts Drake!

"Drake is like the nicest dude I've ever spoken to," the singer said.

"I mean, I've only like, texted him, but he's so nice. He does not need to be nice, but he is."

Of course, the internet had an issue with this because, well, it's the internet.

11. She's dabbled in acting before:

“I went on, like, two auditions,” she told Rolling Stone.

“So lame. This creepy, cold room. All these kids that looked exactly the same. Most actor kids are psychopaths.”

In the end, she preferred doing looping.

This means recording background dialogue for crowd scenes.

“I did Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona and Beezus, X-Men,” she said.

“It was fun — a bunch of kids in a room yelling random things, and then we’d have a break and get snacks.”
