Jon Gosselin Got Honest About What He's Learned About Kate Since Their Divorce 10 Years Ago

It's hard to believe Jon and Kate Gosselin have been divorced for over 10 years now. It's also hard to believe that the pair's sextuplet boys and girls, who we watched grow up on the couple's iconic TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus 8, just celebrated their milestone 16th birthdays!

Now, Jon is speaking about what he has learned in the years following his high-profile divorce.

As you may know, Jon has full-time custody of son Colin and daughter Hannah, while Kate has full custody of Aaden, Joel, Alexis and Leah, as well as the couple's 19-year-old twins, Mady and Cara.

"I wish that all my kids would just be together, hang out together, go to the mall. Just hang out together," Jon told ET.

"Kate and I don’t live that far away from each other but I feel like there is an invisible wall," he explained.

Jon went on to say he isn't opposed to his children hanging out together.

"They should be able to just get together. I have no qualms about it. If they want to go meet each other, go ahead. I feel like it’s more on the other side."

The 43-year-old father of eight says he’s learned a lot from his divorce and legal battles with Kate.

"I just learned a lot of lessons about people. I’ve had great relationships, bad ones. I’ve had a lot of lessons along the way,” he reflects. "Poor financial decisions and good ones. I have grown and am happy where I am now.”

He continued: "I wouldn’t be where I am if I hadn’t gone through the things I went through. I know a lot about court. I am a strong advocate for fathers and other single parents. A lot of people ask me for legal advice."

He recalled his most recent legal encounter with his ex-wife.

"I took Kate to court for illegally filming my kids without work permits. I think she would’ve done the same, if I filmed with my kids without her written consent …or put them in harm’s way or made a profit off them."

"I think she did it because she thinks she could get away with it, that’s the thing. Thinking above the law. The funny thing is if I hadn’t said anything, the department of labour would’ve said something."
