The world is full of surprises. I mean, do you remember where you were when it was announced that James Corden would be taking over from Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show?
Fortunately, however, not all surprises are terrible. Some, in fact, are quite amazing, and the internet loves sharing those moments that make you think, “What was in that vegan salad I had for lunch?” So, here I have gathered together 13+ times that real life didn’t act the way you expected it to!

This is perhaps the most unnecessarily fascinating thing that I have ever found on the internet. Never again will I need to see this, or necessarily remember it; and yet, at this moment in time I am completely in awe of this. The reason this happens is apparently due to the fact that the letters do not dissolve in water, however, the glue with which they are attached does.

And yes, if you immediately thought, “Well, it is missing a blade!” then don’t worry, I did too. If you zoom in and look at the absence of pattern in the ceiling effect, as well as the shadow which is ratting it out, then you’ll see that there actually is a blade there.

Haruka Kojin, Kenji Minamigawa, and Hirofumi Masui were the creators behind this instillation which is on display at Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum.

The House Split Between Countries
According to the explanation for this house, “This house lies at the exact border between Belgium and Netherlands, so if you live there you technically live in two countries. Even the door is split!”
I can only imagine that this must be a nightmare for tax purposes.
Cow Quadruplets
There is apparently only a 1 in 180 million chance that a cow has quadruplets. These four were named Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moo.
It’s udderly unbelievable…

Seeing this just reminds me that its already only 107 days until Christmas. How is that even possible? It feels like only ten minutes ago that I was sweating out excess turkey and filling my arteries with fatty goodness, and it’s nearly that time again.

As someone who isn’t great with heights, I can’t think of anything more unsettling than going to a party in one of those flats. If only I had connections with people who actually lived in flats like that.

I think this perfectly sums up Burning Man. It looks quite cool from a distance, but get any closer and you’ll see its just social-media glitterati posing for images while not really having a good time.

There’s an island in the Maldives where the water glows Vaadhoo Island is home to only about 500 people, but it’s a big tourist destination due to the bioluminescent organisms that live in the waves.
Hummingbird Plant
Not everything native to Australia is terrifying. Take the green birdflower, which has gone viral because the leaves look uncannily like hummingbirds.
Tiny Eggplants?
Nope. These are just oddly elongated grapes. Apparently, they were packaged and sold as “moon grapes” which to me just seems like a clever way to sell an imperfect harvest.
New Perspective.
You’d be forgiven for thinking this is a boring photo of a bunch of spotlights, and it’s not totally off the mark.
However, these spotlights are special. These are the ones that shine as part of the 9/11 memorial.

This halo appeared during Japan’s Harvest Moon Festival, which is really perfect.

This looks like a Photoshop mistake, but it’s real. The rest of the pole burned away in a fire.

Sunset On Mars
We know sunsets as bursts of red and orange, but on Mars the way the light scatters results in a cool blue sunset over the red planet.

Yeah, you read that right. There are two cats in that picture, but the black cat looks like a perfect, dark shadow of the white cat.

This is super cool and unnerving. I kind of want them to go out and sneak a glow stick in behind to make the eye glow around the chrysalis “iris”.
Fish Tanks

These tanks are found off the coast of Jordan and were left as part of an art exhibition/tourist attraction. Eventually, they’ll be taken over by coral and other organisms.
Four seasons, one window.
This isn’t an editted photo. It’s simply that the way the bay window is sectioned matches perfectly with the landscape outside, where fall is just beginning to appear.
Viking Crosswalk
In certain tourist areas of Aarhus, Denmark, the classic WALK guy is replaced by a viking on crosswalk lights.
It’s adorable, but kind of a mixed message. The shield and axe don’t really say “come, walk this way” to me.

“An interesting glitch my phone had”
This is a pretty neat glitch, but due to the subject and atmosphere, it kind of feels like a creepy screenshot from the videotape in The Ring .
Not A Glitch
Well, not technically. This is actually a panoramic photo taken while the color-changing light bulb was doing its thing.

It’s a sweat bee! These friendly pollinators sometimes look like your classic yellow and black bee, but can also come in green, blue, or even red.
They’re attracted to sweat, but won’t sting unless you try to swat them. Thankfully, their sting is known to be one of the least painful of any insect.

Yeah, no thanks.

According to the person who posted the photo, the customer’s extra fingers worked perfectly well as well. It must be a nightmare for her to buy gloves.
Termite Cathedral
