Everybody makes mistakes, even Marvel!
The MCU movies may be beloved, but they are far from perfect. Many of Marvel’s films have at least one flub that’s impossible to ignore.
“Captain Marvel”: Come As You Are
Captain Marvel has a lot of inconsistencies, but one of the most surprising happens during Carol’s final confrontation with the Supreme Intelligence.
Nirvana’s song, “Come As You Are,” can be heard in Carol’s mindscape even though it came out in 1991, two years after she left Earth.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp”: Sonny Walks on Water
In Ant-Man and the Wasp , a giant-sized Scott Lang leaves Sonny Burch winded on a boat after retrieving the stolen lab.
However, Sonny is somehow back on shore when he tries to get the lab back from Luis. That’s some superpower!
“Avengers: Infinity War”: Gauntlets R Us
In the post-credits scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron , Thanos seemingly has an Infinity Gauntlet waiting for him in his locker.
However, Avengers: Infinity War implies that he recently forced the dwarves of Nidavellir to make it for him.
Did he mail it to himself in the past?
“Spider-Man: Homecoming”: Eight Years Later
Marvel fans immediately questioned the MCU’s timeline when a title card claimed Spider-Man: Homecoming took place “Eight Years Later” after the Battle of New York in The Avengers .
The inconsistent timeline was widely pointed out upon the film’s release. However, it remains uncorrected on home video.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming”: Peter’s Home Movie
Spider-Man: Homecoming opened with an amusing video Peter Parker made during the events of Captain America: Civil War .
Unfortunately, Peter’s reactions and dialogue during this flashback footage doesn’t match up with what actually happened in the previous film.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”: Stan Lee Watches the Watchers
Stan Lee’s informant enthusiastically informed the Watchers about his various MCU jobs in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 .
Director James Gunn admitted that he goofed when Lee mentioned his appearance in Captain America: Civil War in a story set four years before it happened!
“Avengers: Age of Ultron”: Strings attached
In Avengers: Age of Ultron , Captain America bravely leaps on to a truck to confront Ultron.
As noted by CBR , someone forgot to edit out the cable holding up Chris Evans in that shot.
“Guardians of the Galaxy”: The note from Peter’s mom
Have you ever noticed that Guardians of the Galaxy quickly cuts away from the note Peter’s mother left for him?
It’s probably because her voiceover omits the part about the special bond they share with each other.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”: Nick Fury’s eyes
During Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Zola taunts Cap and Black Widow with photos declaring Nick Fury to be “deceased.”
Note that Fury’s eye patch jumps from his left eye to his right.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”: Happy Birthday, Bucky!
How old is Bucky, anyway? In Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Bucky’s monument lists his birth year as 1916 at the top.
But at the bottom, it says “1917-1944.”
Pick an age, Marvel!
“The Avengers”: Steve Rogers’ perfect hair
Speaking of The Avengers , have you ever noticed that Steve Rogers’ hair doesn’t move at all as he rides off at the end of the movie?
We didn’t know there was a super soldier formula for hair too!
“The Avengers”: Shawarma Time
This is not technically a mistake, but The Avengers post-credit shawarma scene raises questions that the film doesn’t answer.
Specifically, where’s Loki? Did they stuff him in a Stark vault while they went out for lunch?
Or is he off camera at his own table while forced to watch his enemies dine? We don’t know!
“Iron Man 2”: Captain America’s shield
We never got an explanation about Captain America’s shield in Iron Man 2 . Tony Stark treats it like an abandoned project he never threw out.
This is clearly not the original shield. But why was its significance ignored by every movie that came after it?
“The Incredible Hulk”: The Incredible Moving Money
When Bruce Banner empties Betty Ross’ purse in The Incredible Hulk , her ID and cash is clearly in her wallet.
But in the next cut, both the money and her ID are neatly removed from the wallet.
