A 'Hunger Games' Prequel Is Officially In The Works

With all the news lately of movies being pushed back and with so many other movies halting filming, it's honestly so refreshing to get some good news about a new movie that's finally been confirmed after tons of teasing.

'The Hunger Games' prequel novel by writer Suzanne Collins is expected out May 19th.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will take place well before the events of the first book (and film) and will focus on President Snow as a young man, before he turns into the villain we all love to hate.

It has just been announced by Suzanne Collins herself that there is already a movie version of the novel in the works.

“Lionsgate has always been the cinematic home of The Hunger Games, and I’m delighted to be returning to them with this new book,” Collins announced, also confirming that Francis Lawrence, the director of Catching Fire and Mockingjay parts one and two, will be directing this feature.

"From the beginning, they have treated the source material with great respect, honoring the thematic and narrative elements of the story, and assembling an incredible team both in front of and behind the camera."

"I look forward to collaborating with them and all at Lionsgate as we bring The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes to theaters worldwide," she said.

I am so excited! I can't wait to see who they're going to cast as a young Snow. Who do you think should get the part? Let us know in the comments!
