Feuds are a hilarious thing to follow - especially when it's a fake feud! I'm reminded of the battle between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon or, more famously, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds!
The Deadpool/Wolverine feud has been going on for so long, that fans aren't even sure how it began. But thanks to a recent interview given by Hugh Jackman, we have our answer!
It turns out that Scarlett Johansson helped set the whole thing in motion.
They make us laugh and cry (because we're laughing too hard).
They are constantly calling each other out or making fun of one another.
Fans love it.
And we love every second of it.
Which is why we are here to help. Let's get into the background story!
The year was 2009.
Hugh Jackman was already well established with Marvel and a fresh-faced Ryan Reynolds was about to make his film debut as Deadpool.
Deadpool wouldn't become an established character in the Marvel Universe for another 7 years after the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
He was a failed experiment of the "Weapon X" program, in a similar fashion to how Wolverine was.
In an interview with ET, Hugh said:
"I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett, and Scarlett had just married Ryan."
From there, the feud was on.
Ryan began by making a hilarious political ad-campaign video called "3 Facts About Hugh Jackman."
Among the "facts" was that Hugh Jackman is not his real name and that he's a "fake foreigner."
The fact that the caption reads "HIGH ROAD" just seals the deal.
Clearly Hugh isn't above toilet humor and fans everywhere loved him for it.
Fans were clamoring for Wolverine to make an appearance, so Ryan simply gave them what they were asking for.
Hopefully, that crossover event is still in the cards!
Jackman trolls Reynolds for a variety of questionable career choices (like Green Lantern) and congratulates him for joining the ranks of other "famous Canadians" like William Shatner, Leslie Nielsen, and Tommy Chong.
The caption on Instagram is hilarious.
Clearly the Deadpool star has not given up hope that he may yet see Logan again on screen.
To show that there were no hard feelings, each actor made a commercial for the other's business.
Ryan made a commercial for Hugh's Laughing Man Coffee and Hugh did an ad for Ryan's Aviation Gin.
You could see how much time and effort Ryan had put into the commercial.
His love for his friend shone through and Hugh felt it.
Hugh's commercial, by comparison, was shall we say...most definitely NOT Oscar-worthy.
It was short, sweet, and above all else, ruthless.
The commercial begins with Hugh sitting on a couch. He looks at the camera and says "Ryan Reynolds is a complete and total [expletive]."
He then unscrews the bottle of Aviation Gin and sets it on its side, spilling the contents on the floor.
Thank goodness for that. I mean come on, a truce? No one wants that.
After all, there can only be one winner in a battle between Deadpool and Wolverine!
