Dr. Drew Apologizes For Claiming The Coronavirus Was 'Press-Induced Panic': 'I Got It Wrong'

Drew Pinsky, better known as Dr. Drew, is famous for being a celebrity doctor. However, he recently found himself in hot water after his comments about the coronavirus have resurfaced on Twitter.

Information about the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to use online resources from CDC and WHO to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding COVID-19.

A compilation was tweeted of clips of Dr. Drew talking about the virus earlier in the year.

In the video, Drew claimed the coronavirus would be not as bad as the flu, and stated that the probability of dying of coronavirus was less than being hit by an asteroid.

Drew also said he was angry about the 'press-induced panic' of the virus.

Fans were angry about his comments and how he had downplayed the seriousness of the disease that may have put more people in danger. One fan tweeted, "Hold Dr Drew Pinsky accountable. The Board of Directors of Las Encinas Hospital, Pasadena, CA must terminate him. Ditto for stations that carry him."

Drew has now uploaded another video apologizing for his comments.

“I wish I had gotten it right, but I got it wrong,” Drew said in the video, saying about his claims that "they were incorrect. I was part of a chorus saying these things, and we were wrong."

"I want to apologize for that."

Drew then explained that he had always emphasized to listen to medical advice and the recommendations from Dr. Fauci, the CDC, and WHO.
