Music legend and goddess Alicia Keys is opening up about an uncomfortable experience she encountered with a photographer at the beginning of her career.
Alicia Keys’ memoir “More Myself” just hit shelves and the people are LOVING it.

The 39-year-old has been in the music industry since she was 15, and has a lot of stories to share with her fans.
One of the most notable and most traumatic took place when Alicia was just 19-years-old.

After an unidentified photographer had convinced Alicia’s management team to let the do the shoot one-on-one, he proceeded to pressure her to pose proactively.
The photographer had the young artist unbutton her shirt and pull down her jeans while he continued to take pictures.

“My spirit is screaming that something is wrong, that this feels sleazy,” Alicia recalled .
“But my protests, lodged in the back of my throat, can’t make their way out. I swallow my misgivings, tuck my thumb between the denim and my skin, and obey.”

When the magazine was published, Alicia recalls feeling “embarrassed” and “ashamed,” and says the experience taught her to never allow anybody to “rob me of my power.”
“This isn’t about me showing some skin, which I’ll do on my own terms, for my own purposes, in the coming years,” she clarified.

“It’s about feeling manipulated. It’s about being objectified.”
What an important story to share for all young women. We love you, Alicia!
