Chloe Sevigny Distressed Over Ban On Partners Not Being Allowed In Delivery Rooms

As coronavirus continues to spread throughout North America, some hospitals are choosing to ban all family members from delivery rooms.

Pregnant actress, Chloe Sevigny took to Instagram to speak about this "distressing' new policy.

Chances are, you're probably painfully aware of the strange, concerning times we're all living in right now.

Life as we know it has come to a halt— and rightfully so — in an effort to slow down the spread of the virus.

Non-essential businesses are closing including gyms, restaurants, bars, shopping centers, and entertainment venues.

Schools are closed, sporting leagues have postponed their seasons, and musicians have postponed their tours.

Everyone that doesn't work at the hospital or an essential business is being asked to stay home and practice social distancing until further notice.

So far, there have been over 400,000 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide.

Over 200,000 of those cases are currently active, and over 100,000 have recovered.

Unfortunately, there have been over 18,000 deaths.

Health care professionals are hard at work trying to develop of vaccine. But there is still a long way to go before we truly have a handle on the situation.

In the meantime, it's safe to say that this virus has and continues to be beyond disruptive.

Understandably, some hospitals are choosing to limit the number of people allowed in the delivery room.

What is equally understandable, however, is that expecting mothers may not feel comfortable with the idea of giving birth without their partners in the room.

Tons of celebrities, and those in influential positions, have been taking to social media — asking their fans to help stop the spread of the virus.

Like Danny DeVito, Lady Gaga, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Kerry Washington, among others.

But one celeb, in particular, has used her platform to reach out to expecting parents on how the coronavirus may affect them, specifically.

Pregnant actress, Chloe Sevigny, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Sinisa Mackovic, took to Instagram to speak out on the "distressing" new policy being implemented by New York-Presbyterian.

The new policy was announced on Monday.

"At this time, no visitors including birthing partners and support persons are permitted for obstetric patients," the statement reads.

"We understand that this will be difficult for our patients and their loved ones".

"But we believe that this is a necessary step to promote the safety of our new mothers and children."

The hospital also plans to test all women admitted to the delivery unit for COVID-19.

Regardless of whether or not they are showing symptoms.

New York currently has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the United States, so it seems fitting that they are taking extra precautions.

But Chloe understands that it's not going to be easy for expecting mothers and fathers to accept this one!

Chloe sent out her sympathies to all the soon-to-be mothers and fathers that this new policy is affecting.

"#pregnantincoronatime 😬😱🤯 I hope all expecting families are finding some calm," she wrote.

"Today’s news in NY was very distressing for all. #support #prayers".

I'm sure all of the mothers-and-fathers-to-be appreciated Chloe's message!

What do you think of New York-Presbyterian's new policy — not allowing partners to be in the delivery room?
