Fans Slam Kelly Ripa For Joking About Coronavirus While Getting Botox: 'It's Botox Deficiency'

As the pandemic, COVID-19, continued to spread across the globe, causing deaths, panic, and toilet paper hoarding, fans are slamming TV personality, Kelly Ripa, for making a joke about it on social media.

By now, everybody and their mothers have heard about the coronavirus.

It is causing worldwide panic as people try to stock up on the essentials, preparing to socially distance themselves until further notice.

Gyms, bars, restaurants, and shopping centers are shutting down, sporting leagues are suspending their seasons, festivals and concerts are being postponed, and travel bans are being implemented.

Everyone is being encouraged to simply stay inside — all in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.

Worldwide, the deaths caused by the virus have surpassed 6500.

So, needless to say, COVID-19 is not something that should be taken lightly — especially considering that in many parts of the world, including North America, it's only just getting started.

Unfortunately, despite the severity of the issue, there are some people that don't seem to be taking it too seriously.

Just last week, Prince William insinuated that the media has been blowing everything out of proportion to scare people, and joked that he and his wife, Kate Middleton, are spreading the virus.

"I bet everyone's like 'I've got coronavirus, I'm dying,' and you're like 'no, you've just got a cough,'" William said, speaking to Joe Mooney, an advance paramedic with the National Ambulance Service in Ireland.

"By the way, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are spreading coronavirus, sorry," he added.

"We're keeping an eye on that, so do tell us if we need to stop," he added.

"Does it seem quite dramatic about coronavirus at the moment?," he said. Is it being a little bit hyped up, do you think, in the media?"

Naturally, Twitter was not impressed with William's insensitive comments.

And rather than learning from William's mistakes, TV personality, Kelly Ripa, decided to take a stab at coronavirus comedy for herself — only to get the same response from fans. Shocker.

She uploaded a video of herself at her dermatologist's office, receiving Botox.

"Hi everyone. We're going to talk about a serious medical problem," Kelly's dermatologist starts off saying.

"Yes, there's a very serious medical problem going around right now. What is it?" Kelly asked.

I'm sure you can probably tell where this is going...

"It's Botox deficiency," Dr. Anolik said. "Acute!," Kelly added.

"A lot of side effects. Lines, wrinkles," the doctor explains.

Kelly then begins to scrunch up her face, revealing some of her lines.

"In this time we can notice that there's been a lot of worrying, you can see it is written all over my face," she said.

"But Dr. Anolik decided to be brave today and come into work to treat my acute Botox deficiency syndrome."

After receiving her injections, Kelly says: "What do you think? Did I survive?"

"Is there any Botox left for anyone else, doctor?," she jokes.

Yikes. Kelly, girl, WYD?

"We used it all up, hopefully, there won't be a shortage," the doctor responds.

As expected, Kelly is facing a ton of backlash over this.

So much, in fact, that she took the video down altogether.

People are disappointed that Kelly thought this joke was even remotely tasteful considering how many lives have been lost because of the virus.

All things considered, if there is ever going to be a time when coronavirus jokes are a good idea, it certainly isn't in the thick of it, when people are literally dying because of it.

Another fan pointed out that this was a typical display of privilege — rich people thinking they have nothing to worry about.
