Fitness Blogger Hasn't Shaved In Over A Year And Is Happier Than Ever

For a lot of women, the thought of anyone seeing even an ounce of stubble on their legs or under their arms is unfathomable. Like so many things, society decided a long time ago that for women, body hair is a big no-no — something to be embarrassed about. And up until recently, Morgan Mikenas felt the same type of shame and disgust towards her body hair that many of us experience.

Morgan began shaving in middle school, after she was bullied for the hair on her legs.

"I went straight home to my mom and was so upset and crying and telling her to teach me how to shave my legs."

The young fitness blogger from Indiana says having shaved legs used to make her feel confident and clean, but she also admitted that it took a lot of time and effort to maintain.

"One day I was like, 'Why am I doing this anymore? This just takes so much time!' So I just let it do its thing and grow out."

And grow it did!

Morgan has not shaved in over a year, and while she does experience plenty of harsh comments and stares from others, she says she's never been happier.

"I freakin' love my body hair. I love the hair that grows on my body. I just like being my most natural and human self."

However, even though she is comfortable with her decision not to shave, Morgan doesn't expect every woman to follow suit.

Instead, she wants others to be inspired to make choices that work for them, rather than what society expects.

"By showing my body hair I hope to make an impact. It's up to every person to decide what makes them feel most comfortable within themselves."

"I just want people to not feel ashamed of themselves in any way."
