Driver Pulled Over For Tags That Expired In 1997: 'I've Been Busy Lately'

There are plenty of reasons police might pull us over that we're not fully aware of. How often do you check to see that your tail lights are in working order, really?

However, one driver pulled over in Louisiana stretched credulity with his excuse.

Police in Slidell, Lousiana posted to Facebook after encountering a driver whose tags had expired 23 years ago, writing "For those of you who like to 'switch tags', at least give us a good challenge and don’t use a license plate that is over 20-years-old and expired back in 1997!"

Yes, these tags expired a few months before Titanic hit theaters.

The driver's excuse?

"'Sorry, officer. I've been busy lately and totally forgot to renew my vehicle registration. I will take care of it as soon as I get home!'"

"Yes, this actually happened," the police wrote.

Now they've officially seen it all, I'm sure.
