Italian Town Has Mini-Miracle When Wine Literally Starts Coming From Their Taps

Turning water into wine is a classic miracle, but we don't usually assume it's one that we'll see in our lifetime.

However, for the town of Castelvetro di Modena in Italy, a similar event left them scratching their heads — and then filling up every empty container they could find.

When residents of the small town turned on the tap, they were shocked to see pink, frothy liquid instead.

It would be pretty scary to see, except that the liquid also had a very distinctive scent: it was wine.

Specifically, a sparkling red wine made from local lambrusco grapes.

It wasn't a miracle, though.

Once word reached the Settecani winery nearby, staff discovered a leak in one of their huge wine silos. The pressure of the leak was stronger than the town's water pressure, causing it to basically force its way into the pipes instead.

Once residents were assured that it was safe, they began filling as many containers as they could before the leak was fixed.

Though the town council did receive some complaints worrying about water contamination, they received just as many complaints after the leak was fixed and the "miracle" ended.

But everyone had a really nice wine to serve with dinner.
