'The Last Of Us' Is Being Made Into A TV Show By HBO

Are you ready to get your heart broken by Joel and Ellie in a whole new medium? I definitely am not, but that doesn't mean I'm any less excited by the latest news about the The Last of Us series.

For the uninitiated, 'The Last of Us' is a 2013 video game that focuses on two survivors in a zombie apocalypse.

Referred to as The Infected, these zombies are just one of the issues that rough and gruff Joel has to navigate while transporting and protecting precocious teenager Ellie, who is potentially an important player in creating a cure for the infection at large.

The hugely popular and award-winning game is being made into a television series by HBO!

As The Hollywood Reporter confirms, The Last of Us TV series will follow the story of the original game, and is being created by the same people who created hugely popular series Chernobyl.

Neil Druckmann, the writer of the game, will be involved to help write and executive produce the series.

"From the first time I sat down to talk with [Craig Mazin], I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us," said Druckmann in a statement.

"With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece."

"I couldn't think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show," he said.

I literally cannot wait. Are you as excited as I am? Let us know in the comments below!
