Royal Caribbean Is Treating Australia's Bushfire Volunteers To Free Cruises

The year 2020 started rough, particularly for large portions of Australia where the worst bushfires on record destroyed acres and acres of land, killed and displaced hundreds of thousands of animals, destroyed homes, and killed at least 33 people.

Throughout it all, an army of volunteer firefighters sacrificed their time, health, and paychecks to do their part to fight it.

After months of fighting, the end finally feels near.

Earlier this month, the NSW Rural Fire Service announced that all of the fires in New South Wales were successfully contained.

There is still a ton of work to do, but legions of volunteers can now return to regular life.

After all their hard work, Royal Caribbean has announced that they want to give a special thank you.

They have sent the Spectrum of the Seas cruise ship to Sydney, where they announced that it will sail for two complementary four-day cruises for volunteers and their families to rest and relax.

After the flood of applications for the offer, they've considered adding a third sailing to the itinerary.

The Spectrum of the Seas usually sails in the waters off Northern Asia.

With the coronavirus spreading and one cruise ship already affected, the ship left the area a month ago. All crew have been through a 14-day quarantine and the ship has been without passengers since leaving Asia.

Each sailing can carry 3,500 guests, and Royal Caribbean says it received more than 12,000 applications before the cut-off date.

The trips will be awarded via a lottery to ensure everyone has an equal chance to sail.

I'm sure they'll have an amazing time and they deserve it!
