Musician Neil Young has made his political opinions on the President of the United States, Donald Trump, very clear in a new open letter published to his website.
In January, Young shared a photo of himself standing next to an American flag with a "Democrats register to vote here" sign, along with the caption, "I'm happy to report I'm in!"
Young, who was born in Canada and has been living in the United States since the 60s, said at the time, "I’m still a Canadian; there’s nothing that can take that away from me."
"But I live down here; I pay taxes down here; my beautiful family is all down here – they’re all Americans, so I want to register my opinion," he said.
Young has made his opinion known with a new open letter directed to the current President.
"Your mindless destruction of our shared natural resources, our environment and our relationships with friends around the world is unforgivable."
Young confirmed he believed that Barack Obama was a better person, stating, "Our first black president was a better man than you are."
Young then addressed President Trump's use of his songs, "Keep On Rockin' In The Free World," at his rallies, stating that it isn't a song that Trump can "trot out."
"I don't blame the people who voted for you. I support their right to express themselves, although they have been lied to, and in many cases believed the lies, they are true Americans. I have their back."
Young wrote that Sanders is "aiming at preserving our children's future directly" and that he is "truly fighting for the USA."
Some are arguing that as someone who hasn't been an American citizen until this year, Young should stay out of American politics.
David Crosby, who has also endorsed Sanders, replied to a tweet saying there should be a half of a Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young reunion at Sanders rally saying, "Tell him... I'm ready."
