Sandra Bullock Talks Difficulties Of Motherhood In A Time Where 'Screens Are Everywhere'

In case you've wondered what motherhood is like for Sandra Bullock, she just spilled all during her interview with Jennifer Aniston for Interview Magazine.

This includes how it's difficult being a mother during a time where "screens are everywhere."

Sandra Bullock is many things.

She's an actress, mother, and philanthropist, as she's donated millions of dollars to important causes all over the world.

She can also add "interviewer" to her impressive resume, since she recently had to pleasure of interviewing fellow actress, Jennifer Aniston.

This was for Jen's cover story with Interview Magazine, which was released on the actress's 51st birthday on February 11.

The two pals began by reminiscing about how they first met.

"We were introduced by our former boyfriend. I say 'our' because you and I both partook of this one human being," said Sandra.

This "human being" happened to be actor Tate Donovan.

Bullock dated Tate first, after they met on the 1992 set of "Love Potion No. 9." They were even engaged!

After they broke up, he dated Aniston for three years, even appearing as her love interest, Joshua, on Friends.

While the interview focused mostly on Jennifer, Sandra shared some interesting tidbits about herself as well.

She shared the difficulties that come with motherhood in a time where "screens are everywhere."

"I look at everyone who is trying to raise kids, and I go, 'How are we supposed to raise children outside of a bubble?" Bullock said.

"And show them the difference between right and wrong, and what kindness looks like, when it's really hard to find it with all the noise on a screen?'"

"Do you just keep pointing to a higher power, going: 'You have to answer to that thing. Don't look at anything here on Earth. Just point up there?'"

Aniston responded by saying that, "You can protect your children as much as possible, but they’re eventually going to become an 18-year old and go out in the world and they’re going to see all of it."

To this, Sandra replied, "Not my kids."

The actress has two adopted children, Louis Bardo, 10, and Laila, 8.

She raises them with her longtime boyfriend, photographer Bryan Randall.

Sandra continued: "I gave them the places where they can go to college because that’s where mommy feels comfortable living. I said, 'You can go to these three colleges because I’m going to buy an apartment down the street.'"

A lot of this has to do with the thing that she and Jen have in common: they both like to "stay at home" by the things that they've cultivated as "safe."

"It’s scary entering the world, but when we do, we feel good and we’re glad we did it. But the dread of being around people, I need to get better with that."

This is something that a lot of people — especially introverts — can relate to.

When Jen asked if she's helping Sandra get out into the world more, she made a joke.

"You’re not allowed to work out of town because my social life comes to a screeching halt and I just stay home, and that’s just not healthy, Jennifer Aniston!"

"Well, you do have a lovely home and a stunning man and two gorgeous children," Aniston replied.

While Jen isn't a mother, she did allude to this potentially being something that's missing in her life.

"What is it that you haven’t done yet that you are looking forward to doing?" Bullock asked.

"Is it on a work level? Is it on a spiritual evolvement level? Is it all of the above?"

"My gut reaction was to say all of the above," Jennifer surprisingly revealed.

"It’s not so much what I see myself doing, but it’s more like a little screenshot in my brain, where I hear the ocean, I see the ocean, I hear laughter, I see kids running, I hear ice in a glass, I smell food being cooked. That’s the joyous snapshot in my head."

And, as if these ladies couldn't make us gush enough over their friendship, Sandra asked, "Am I at the beach house with you?"

"You’re at the beach house with me," Jennifer replied.

So presh.
