Back in 2015, on The Graham Norton Show , Kate Winslet revealed after she finally won an Oscar in 2009, she keeps the statue in her bathroom so that guests can practice their hypothetical acceptance speeches.
Kate Winslet knows as well as the rest of us that the best place to stow an Oscar is in the bathroom.

Not only is it an obvious yet tasteful brag that guests won’t be able to miss, but it’s also the perfect opportunity for guests to shamelessly get some alone time with the statue in front of a mirror.
It’s a win for everyone.
After precisely 39 Academy Award nominations, Kate finally landed herself an Oscar in 2009.
She won Best Actress for her part in The Reader .
After the excitement of winning an Oscar simmers down, the next thing that probably comes to mind is, ‘Where am I going to showcase this in my home?’
But according to Kate, she knew right away that her bathroom was going to be the spot.
Back in 2015, in an interview with WSJ Magazine, Kate explained the story behind her decision.
“The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad,'” she said .
“And you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed,” she added.
“They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical.”
A few months later, on “The Graham Norton Show”, she went into even more detail.

She began by explaining just how happy she was to finally win an Academy Award.
“I’m still thrilled — even now, and it was about seven years ago,” she said. “It’s the most extraordinary moment.”

“See, the thing is, you get really good at losing.”
“When you get nominated more than a couple of times,” she added.

“What had happened is I had two films come out at the same time — which is not uncommon, actually.”
“It just so happened that both of those films were getting this type of attention [Academy Award nominations].”

“I went to the Golden Globes that year and I had been nominated in two different categories and won them both .”
And then she won an Oscar not long after that!

“It was quite fabulous,” she went on . “A personal fist-bumping moment — the best one of my whole life.”
“You’re really generous with the Oscar, aren’t you?,” Graham asked.

“One tries,” Kate responded. “First of all, it’s very heavy — I just need to say that. It weighs about six or seven pounds.”
“And everyone wants to have a hold, of course.”

“And wants to stand up and go, ‘I’d like to thank,’ she said, pretending to hold the Oscar up and give an acceptance speech.
“So, the best place for an Oscar, is actually the loo.”
“Because then when everyone goes in for a wee or a poo, they can really take their time in front of the mirror with Oscar,” she went on.
“And you can always tell because they flush and then another five minutes go by.”
“You’re playing with Oscar!,” she joked . “And then they come — ‘How was Oscar?’ and they go ‘ Oh my god! It’s so heavy!'”
“It’s a lot of fun watching people’s faces,” she added.
