10+ Awkward Moments Fans May Have Missed From The 2020 Oscars

While it was an evening of glitz and glamour (it always is) there were some embarrassing moments here and there (there always are).

What kind of people would we be if we didn't all point and laugh at these very moments?

Better people, probably.

Oh well! We'll work on bettering ourselves tomorrow.

1. Eminem Performed

What the heck was that about?

Sure, he won one for "Lose Yourself" back in the far off year of 2002, and he never did perform it, so he was due for an appearance.

People were, understandably, confused.

And yes the performance is... charitably alright, but watch the video just to see the confused reactions of celebrities on the floor. They are without a doubt, hilarious.

Just check out Idina Menzel!

2. Billie Eilish Was All Over People

Not only was she confused as to why Eminem was performing at the Oscars (as we all were) but she didn't react all that well to Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph's skit either.

You wanna see cringe?

Well here's that Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig reaction I was talking about earlier.

Bet you didn't think the cameras would be on you, did you Billie? Well, they were.

And thank god they were.

3. Janelle Monáe's Shirt Was Unbuttoned

Not only did she come out with an unbuttoned shirt (while she was copying Mr. Rogers, mind you) but she also had a little bit of trouble taking off her jacket.

4. Bong Joon-ho Stares At His Oscar

This one was equal parts adorable and awkward. There was no way he was expecting to win, and in fact, no one really believed in him.

And yet, there he was. Winning.

5. Jeff Bezos Gets Roasted

Chris Rock and Steve Martin took some time out of their busy speech to roast one of the richest men on the earth.

Love how that applause just slowly creeps in, too.

6. Tony Hawk Was There

And nobody really knew why, until they realized he was there to support _ Learning To Skateboard In A War Zone_, which was apparently shortlisted.

One has to wonder if he had any of those adorable "nobody recognizes me" moments.

7. Diane Keaton Drops The Paper

Hey, it's no "La La Land" win, but it is pretty embarrassing.

Diane Keaton let the winner for Best Original Screenplay slip out of her hands. Luckily, Keanu Reeves was there.

8. Someone Stepped On Olivia Colman's Dress

Well, it looks as though whoever that was wasn't looking where they were going and accidentally stepped on her dress!

Hopefully, it wasn't one she'd like to wear again any time soon!

9. They Tried To Dim The Lights On "Parasite"

When the cast and crew were giving their speeches, they tried to dim the lights and the room freaking erupted!

People started chanting to get them to raise it!

10. Taika Waititi

No one knows why the adorable Taika Waititi was stuffing his Oscar under the chair in front of him.

Maybe it was to be funny? Maybe he just didn't want to hold it. Who the heck knows.

11. Josh Gad Throws Shade At John Travolta

Oh, baby, someone get some light in here!

Maybe some sun, open a window, I don't know, the fact of the matter is that it is getting pretty darn shady in here!

He is referencing a time when John Travolta completely and totally butchered Idina Menzel's name a couple of years ago.

One has to wonder how Mr. Travolta is going to react.

12. Giuliana Rancic’s Interviews Julia Butters

Julia Butters (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) was iconic at the Oscars this year with her whole turkey sandwich moment, but she did get into a weird interview with one Giuliana Rancic.

At one point, Giuliana asked if Julia would talk to Leonardo Di Caprio between takes.

Sony Pictures

Julia, always the one to shock, said: “Not really, we would be professional,” and Giuliana seemed pretty darn taken aback by that answer.

It was weird to see a kid school an adult like that.

13. Giuliana Rancic also chatted with Questlove.

And she asked if he had a plus one to an Oscars after-party he was going to. He replied:

“Uh, I’m not even invited. I’m DJ’ing, but I’m not even invited.”

So... that's a no on the plus one?

14. Diane Warren Was Pretty Salty

Know this fact now, readers: Diane Warren has been nominated for 11 different Oscars over the years for 11 different songs.

Not once has the woman come out on top.

And Diane actually mentioned that to Giuliana at the Oscars.

And you want to know what Giuliana said?

She said: “I’m sure that’s not true!” To the woman who probably knows her own Oscar losses.

But it doesn't stop there!

Diane went on to talk about how she was certain she was going to win for "Til It Happens to You," one she did with Lady Gaga.

That was four nominations ago.

15. Kristin Dos Santos Talks About Women In Directing

We're all well aware no women were nominated for the Best Director Category. Yes, Ms. Portman, thank you for yet another reminder.

But Kristin Dos Santos made a big oopsie on Oscar night.

Kristin Dos Santos she started talking about Saoirse Ronan in the Best Actress nominees, but then pivoted to her director...

Greta Gerwig. She said:

“There’s a lot of talk about female directors being shut out this year, and I’m so happy she’s in the running.”

Oof. I guess we did need the reminder, Ms. Portman.
