State Farm Insurance Accuses Terminally Ill Shannen Doherty Of Trying To 'Garner Sympathy' Amidst Lawsuit

In the wildest news story of the week, State Farm Insurance company is accusing actress Shannen Dohetry of trying to "garner sympathy" amidst a lawsuit.

On Tuesday, 48-year-old actress Shannen Doherty announced her cancer has come back.

"I’m stage four," Shannen told ABC news anchor Amy Robach, "My cancer came back."

The actress revealed she's been fighting her diagnosis privately for the past year.

"I don’t think that I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways," she admitted.

"There are definitely days where I say, ‘Why me?’ and then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else?’ Who else besides me deserves this?"

"None of us do."

Shannen admitted she was more concerned about telling her husband and her mom about the diagnosis.

"I’m petrified," she admitted.

"I’m pretty scared. My mom is a ridiculously strong, courageous human being," she explained.

"So is my husband, but I worry about him."

"I want to be remembered for something bigger than just me," she added.

If this health battle wasn't stressful enough, it has come to light that Shannen has entered a lawsuit with State Farm Insurance.

According to "TMZ," Shannen has been displaced from her home following the devastation of the California wildfires (damage she's fighting the insurance company to repair) and now, State Farm is claiming her illness doesn't justify a remodel.

Shannen is suing over the amount the company is willing to pay to remodel her home, as the insurance company is claiming her house didn't suffer significant fire or structural damage.

State Farm claims in new legal documents it has paid the actress more than $1 million, which includes remediation, professional cleaning and rent for a temporary house for a year.

State Farm's statement reads: "[Shannen] improperly claims she is entitled to have her entire home rebuilt at a cost of $2.7 million because she has breast cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease."

It continues "In fact, the first sentence of [Shannen's] memorandum ... reveals [her] plan at trial to garner sympathy by her contention that State Farm must rebuild her entire house..."

"She is dying of stage 4 terminal cancer," Shannen's lawyer confirms.

"Instead of living out her remaining years peacefully in her home, Ms. Doherty remains displaced and battling with her insurance company."

We're sending all our support and love to Shannen during this time.
