10+ Random Facts Fans Didn't Know About Jennifer Aniston

It seems that not even Jennifer Aniston's biggest fans knew about these facts. Well, there's really no time like the present to get into these kinds of things.

Let's all get together and check out some of the facts about one of our favorite people from Friends (second only to Joey).

1. She had a lot of different jobs

NBC

Jennifer Aniston did a lot before she was an actress.

According to her, she's been a receptionist for an advertising agency, a bike messenger, she worked in an ice cream place and she, of course, waitressed.

2. Both of her parents were actors

CBS

Her dad was John Aniston, who was on a soap opera for a while and her mom was Nancy Dow, a model and actress.

But, despite the fact they were both actors...

They always discouraged her when it came to following in their footsteps.

"My dad's advice has always been: 'Don't do it. Become a doctor. Become a lawyer.' He didn't want me to be heartbroken because he knew it was a tough business. It compelled me to go for it even harder. Do what keeps you happy, and don't ever let people box you in."

3. She did other TV shows before *Friends*

Before she managed to make it on to Friends, she was on four different TV shows.

Those being: Blossom (with Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory), Malloy, The Edge and Muddling Through

4. She was supposed to be on *SNL* but turned it down

YouTube | Saturday Night Live

Apparently, the people on SNL thought she was making a huge mistake.

And she would have been... had it not been for the fact she was turning down SNL to star on Friends.

5. Her first movie

Trimark Pictures

While she makes some pretty good movies these days, her first movie Leprechaun was um... well, it was fun, to put it politely.

But any movie about a killer Leprechaun is going to be fun.

She, on the other hand, doesn't think it's so fun. She is mortified by the experience.

Trimark Pictures

"Actually, it was a mortifying moment when [ex-husband] Justin [Theroux] and I had just started to date. He was flipping through the channels and he stumbled upon that. And that was our next two hours, much to my embarrassment."

6. She originally wanted to be Monica but the producers convinced her to be Rachel Green

NBC

After they told her she got the part, apparently they also told her she needed to lose 30 pounds. Yeesh!

7. She has a fear of water

Cinelou Films

In the movie Cake she had some trouble going underwater because of a childhood trauma.

"I was a kid and I was riding this tricycle around a swimming pool and I drove my tricycle into the swimming pool and I didn't let go and my brother tried to [help me]."

8. Dyslexia got her down

She said this about her childhood, before she discovered she had dyslexia:

"I thought I wasn't smart. I just couldn't retain anything." Then when she found out she said:

"Now I had this great discovery. I felt like all of my childhood trauma-dies, tragedies, dramas were explained."

9. She is one of the highest paid actresses on TV

Back when Friends was airing they made $1 million an episode, and that's not even the end of it! To this day the cast still makes money off the show, about $20 million a year!

10. She hated the Rachel

According to her, it was the "ugliest haircut she had ever seen" and she regrets having to do it.

It's always a shame when you have to inspire a generation of girls' hair.

11. Her goth look

Jennifer Aniston wasn't always the blonde, beautiful woman we see before us today.

Apparently, in high school, she went for a Goth look. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

In her own words, she wasn't going for pretty:

YouTube | Entertainment Tonight

"High school was tragic. Just not well-informed. You know, you're experimenting. It was the '80s and I looked like a goth nightmare. "I wasn't going for most beautiful. It was, 'how can I be the most rebelliously unattractive?'"
