Kobe was 41, and his daughter, a rising basketball star herself, was 13.

The Grammy Awards were taking place in the Staples Centre in Los Angeles the same night, where Kobe played many of his games during his time on the LA Lakers. In honor of Kobe, the Grammys displayed and lit up Kobe's jerseys for the duration of the event.
