Cameron Boyce's Parents Open Up About The Morning Of His Sudden Death
On July 6th 2019, Disney star, Cameron Boyce — best known for his roles in "Grown Ups" and "Jessie", died in his sleep.
At the time, a spokesperson representing his family delivered the sad news of his untimely death.
"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron," they told ABC.
"He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated."
"The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him."
"We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother."
Cameron's family later revealed that the seizure that ended his life was a result of epilepsy — something he had been suffering from for a long time.
Now, six months after their son's untimely passing, Cameron's parents have opened up about the morning of his death in an emotional interview with "The Doctors".

All in an effort to raise awareness about epilepsy.
The night before Cameron's sudden and tragic death, he and his family sat down together for dinner.

Afterward, Cameron went home to his roommate who later made the call to his family, delivering the heartbreaking news.
“In the morning, I get a call from his roommate and then he told me,” Cameron's father, Victor, explained.

“It was like all of a sudden I was in a cloud. I was just … everything just went white.”
He recalled “losing his mind” after hearing the news.

“I still didn’t believe it. There was no way this was true. It was just a nightmare.”
“I’m not supposed to outlive my son," he added.

Libby, Cameron's mother, said that they look for "ways to honor" and "celebrate" him, and that has been how they're "approaching it.”
Contrary to Libby's seemingly positive outlook, she confessed that grieving the loss of their son has been “very, very hard.”

Since the loss of their son, Victor and Libby have had several projects on the go honoring their son’s memory.
Including a partnership between The Cameron Boyce Foundation and the Epilepsy Foundation, in an effort to end Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.

“I think he would be beyond proud,” Libby told People.
“I think he would just be blown away because he was always sort of the one in front of the camera."

"And I know there are a few times, for example, that he would pull me in, in front of the camera for anything, and I couldn’t speak at all," she added.
“But he’s kind of coming through me, right now, in a way that I think is incredible."

“When I’m talking to folks about this on-camera, I’m not nervous, it’s just coming out," she continued.
"We just have an incredible amount of responsibility to move the needle on the epilepsy front and bring it out from the shadows.”

She and Victor went on to say that they are determined to continue their activism and raise awareness about epilepsy.
“We really feel strongly that we need to have this conversation because epilepsy is the most common disease that we know the least about,” she said.

“So we want to bring in donations, obviously for research".
"And also to do as many interviews and have as many conversations as we can so that we can make epilepsy have the attention that it so needs and deserves," she concluded.
