Jack Black Completely Forgot That He Was In 'The Holiday'

In a candid interview with Variety, Jack Black seemingly forgot that he was in — nay, starred in — the film, The Holiday, and his genuine, unsullied reaction is going to make your day.

Earlier this week, Jack Black was stopped for an interview with Variety on the red carpet for the "Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle" premiere.

But this wasn't any ordinary interview.

He unintentionally gave the people what they didn't know they wanted: The perfect Jack Black moment.

IMDb

This guy literally forgot that he was in — starred in, rather — The Holiday.

I want to give Jack the benefit of the doubt.

He's been in a lot of stuff over the years. I can't expect him to remember every single piece of work he's ever been apart of, on the fly.

But the purity of his reaction the moment he realizes that he completely forgot about one of his own films is absolutely priceless.

IMDb

I couldn't have asked for a better, unexpected, Jack Black moment.

For those of you that have never seen "The Holiday", here's a quick rundown.

IMDb

It's a tale of two women (Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz), who have lived two very different walks of life, live in two separate continents, and by the powers of fate, cross paths.

They swap houses and end up falling for two, respective local men.

Daily Edge

Cameron Diaz's character falls in love with Jude Law's character (who wouldn't?), and Kate Winslet's character falls for Jack Black's character.

So, essentially, Jack Black plays one of the main love interests in the film. His role is vital.

But, evidently, this particular role has fallen through the cracks of his entire body of work, leaving us with an exemplary instance in pop-culture interview history.

Variety asked Jack what his favorite Christmas movie is.

With very little hesitation, he responded: "It's gotta be Elf. Jon Favreau and Will Ferrell knock it out of the park."

While we can obviously all agree that "Elf" is a stellar, must-see Christmas movie, some of us may have expected Jack to vouch for his own holiday film.

Variety, however, complimented him for not choosing a film he was apart of, and stating something more impartial instead.

And that's when it happened.

Jack gave us the most bonafide look of confusion.

I want this exact face printed on a t-shirt — or better yet, a Christmas sweater.

"Do I have a Christmas movie?," he asked. "Which one is mine?"

Twitter | @Variety

Jack, my dude, you've only been in one Christmas-related movie. It's in a league of its own.

And here's the moment he answered his own question in his head, realizing that he, in fact, STARRED in "The Holiday".

I can practically hear this photo.

He hastily caught on to his error, and made quite the recovery by giving a quick shout out to the movie's director.

Twitter | @Variety

"Oh! The Holiday! Obviously. The Holiday. "

"Nancy Meyers. Genius," he said.

He then majestically — almost as if in slow motion — flipped his luscious locks and strutted away with the utmost sass.

So, even though he totally forgot about the holiday-themed romance flick that he was a huge part of, he managed to jog his memory in the nick of time.

Well played, Jack! I think he deserves a free pass on this one.
