Brad Pitt Opens Up About Using Alcohol 'As An Escape'

We always don't see it when celebrities are struggling. We usually envision famous people's lives as perfect, and generally that's what they show to us. It's always refreshing when a celebrity opens up about their issues to bring awareness.

Famously, it was reported that Brad Pitt's divorce from Angelina Jolie was partially based on Brad having a drinking problem.

This appeared to be at least partially confirmed by Brad, who said, "I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges."

He revealed that he had been in Alcoholics Anonymous for over a year following the divorce.

He spoke about how inspiring he found the meetings, saying, "You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard."

In a new interview, Brad opened up about his own alcohol use.

While being interviewed by Anthony Hopkins, who asked him, "I’ve read you had a struggle with booze and all that," Pitt responded in the affirmative.

"Well, I just saw it as a disservice to myself, as an escape."

Brad went on to say, "I think we’re living in a time where we’re extremely judgmental and quick to treat people as disposable. We’ve always placed great importance on the mistake. But the next move, what you do after the mistake, is what really defines a person."
