Lili Reinhart Reveals She 'Suffers From OCD' After Facing Backlash For Joking About It

Riverdale's own Betty Cooper and Hustlers actress Lili Reinhart is a, generally speaking, pretty unproblematic celebrity. She stands up for the causes she believes in and doesn't usually say the kind of things the Internet loves to get mad about.

That changed on a recent appearance on The Tonight Show.

Lili was discussing her character in 'Hustlers' proclivity towards vomiting when she gets stressed out and made a joke about her own gags.

Lili was speaking about the fake vomit used in the film and said, "It was actually animal crackers and Sprite mixed together. I thought I was going to have a problem here because I have this really like, OCD thing with floaters in water and in drinks. Like if my drink has a little floater in it, I’m like [gags], get it out. That’s when I want to throw up! So having a cup of something that basically looked like ‘floaters’ in water was like my worst nightmare.”

Lili immediately caught some heat from fans watching.

Some fans felt like Lili was trivializing the disorder by joking about it, and that there's a general lack of understand of what OCD actually is because of how it's represented in these kinds of jokes.

Lili clapped back to defend herself.

Lili took to Twitter that "it wasn't just a little quip I made on a talk show," and that she had been diagnosed with OCD since she was in elementary school.

Fans of Lili's who share the disorder immediately flooded her mentions with messages of love and support for speaking out about this.

"I love how there is literally no other person in this world to whom I can look forward, admire and relate to as a role model. I’ve had OCD since I was 6 and seeing that you struggle with the same issues make me connect to you even more," one fan wrote.

It's so awesome to see celebrities talking about mental health!
