'Doctor Sleep' Actress Rebecca Ferguson Shuts Down Interviewer's Sexist Joke

There's nothing better than watching the women of Hollywood roast interviewers for their super sexist questions.

Rebecca Ferguson recently encountered one such interviewer while on a press tour for Doctor Sleep, and what she did is low-key legendary.

Okay, so. Rebecca Ferguson.

She's basically been in every dope movie from the last few years.

Tom Cruise hand picked her to star opposite him in three Mission: Impossible films after seeing her in The White Queen.

She's seriously been in a ton of good movies.

The Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackman. Florence Foster Jenkins with Meryl Streep. The Girl on the Train with Emily Blunt. Men in Black: International with Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth.

Basically, what I'm saying here is: slap some respect on her name.

She's on the 'Doctor Sleep' press tour right now.

Doctor Sleep is a follow-up to The Shining, following a psychic Ewan McGregor (as Danny, a grown-up version of the kid from the original film) and cult-leader Rebecca in a clash over supernatural forces.

And this interview is so awkward.

"Why are you always working with handsome men? Michael Fassbender, Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, now you have me, so..."

This man is about to get verbally assassinated. I'm ready.

Rebecca's sarcastic laugh is everything to me.

"Look at that," she laughed. "Look how that turned out. How about Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Charlotte Gainsbourg —"

Y'all, this man then had the audacity to interrupt her.

I'm cringing on the inside, but also on the outside.

"I'm talking about the guys," he clarified.

"Oh really, now? Are you? Funny, that."

You know that tone your mom had when she knew she'd just caught you doing something, but was deadly calm about it? That's how she sounded.

It got worse!

"You're beautiful," he said, laughing.

This man really did not see how many times he'd messed up in the last 30 seconds. It's like she threw up 20 brick walls and he just crashed on through them.

Jot this down: she HANDLED it.

Twitter | @comerlarson

"Do you know what, I'm just lucky to work with incredible people, whether or not they have a penis or not. I don't really care."

The interviewer awkwardly laughed and I cheered.

Twitter decided to stan her immediately.

TRULY, the way she looked at him before she calmly went in for the kill? I now understand why a) Twitter stans her, and b) she was cast as the villain in Doctor Sleep.

Shoutout to Pete right here.

PETE! My man! He's clearly one of the good ones, and made a great point:

"This [expletive] gets to do this job for a living and this is how he handles himself 🙄 Good for Rebecca Ferguson. The guy deserved it."

How many of us (ie, women) have had a dude try something like this? Because I definitely have, and I wish I'd clapped back that eloquently and that brutally.

I gotta take notes.

His fellow male journalists were not impressed, either.

Twitter | @bradmiska

Journalist Brad Miska called him out.

"People like this think they’re funny and cute, but they represent all of us and it’s one of the reasons I’m embarrassed to do junkets - talent think we’re ALL this [expletive] [expletive that rhymes with 'whoosh tag']."

They also laid out one of the biggest issues here.

On top of basically finding a way to talk about himself during her interview, he also hit on her.

During her interview.

For her movie.

Ascending over this tweet, brb.

Mayhaps it's time to make Rebecca Ferguson Twitter's girlfriend for the month. Twitter always stans random Netflix dudes, why not stan this absolute queen?

Anyone with me here? We could make it happen.

I mean, basically.

Anyway, I'm glad we live in a world where questions like his are no longer acceptable, and actually turn into full-blown roast sessions on Twitter. There is some good in the universe!
