Fans Freak Out After Demi Lovato Posts 'Baby Bump' Pic

When you're a celebrity, it's gotta be pretty tempting to mess with your fans sometimes. Dropping clues about nothing, maybe making something trend on Twitter for no reason, or pretending you don't remember one of your own albums.

Demi Lovato saw her opportunity and took it.

Demi has not been shy about sharing her body on Instagram.

When Demi shared this bikini shot, the Internet went crazy, and it wasn't just because she looked amazing. In her caption, she revealed, ""This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a bikini unedited. And guess what, it’s CELLULIT!!!!"

"I’m just literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited - and I hate that I did that but it’s the truth.)"

"So that others think I’m THEIR idea of what beautiful is, but it’s just not me. This is what I got. I want this new chapter in my life to be about being authentic to who I am rather than trying to meet someone else’s standards," she continued.

"So here’s me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has fought through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day."

Demi's comment about hoping to have a baby one day did not go unnoticed by her fans, which is probably why the shot she shared to her Instagram last week sent so many fans into a frenzy.

Demi's been generating a lot of headlines for her love life lately.

First there was the brief but very publicized relationship with former Bachelor contestant Mike Johnson, who Demi frequently posted about while the show was airing.

Recently, Demi made a splash when she introduced the world to her new boyfriend — and it wasn't Mike.

She shared a shot of her with model Austin Wilson on her Instagram with the caption calling her his heart. He shared a similar shot where he called her his love.

That's why when Demi posted this shot to her Instagram, people freaked out.

She's CLEARLY cradling a baby bump in this shot, and if people didn't bother to read her cheeky caption, "Real or fake? 🤰🏻😝" they might not realize Demi's character on Will and Grace is the one who's pregnant, not her.

Fans freaked out.

People scrolling by quickly or who saw the picture on other platforms really had a moment where they believed Demi was pregnant, and her fans were appropriately excited by the possible news.

Almost having a heart attack was a common theme of the comments.

"I was freaking out for like five minutes until I actually read the caption," one commenter said while another wrote, "Do not toy with my heart like that, Demi!"

Some fans didn't bother to read the caption at all.

There were a lot of very sweet but very unneeded congratulatory and well-wishing comments from those who saw the picture and didn't realize it was part of the TV show Demi is filming.

Some fans just thought it was funny — and Demi agreed.

When one fan tweeted that Demi was simply pregnant "with D7," referring to her 7th album, Demi shared the tweet on her Instagram story, saying "This is true."

Well, congratulations, Demi!

Of course, this is the Internet, so there was some backlash to Demi's post.

"Absolutely not a funny thing to joke about," wrote one commenter, while another added that they were "appalled."

Some people made comparisons to when Justin and Hailey Bieber tried to convince people they were pregnant on April Fool's Day.

Justin went so far as to post a fake Ultrasound to his Instagram, which fans found insensitive to people who might not be able to have children or who are struggling with fertility.

However, most people pointed out that Demi, unlike the Biebers, was not trying to trick anyone.

“Why is everyone SO ridiculously sensitive! I can’t have kids and I am not ‘appalled.’ It’s a joke, get over yourselves,” one user defended Demi in the comments.

“Obviously a lot of you don’t really pay attention to her at all if you think this is real.”
