Fourth 'Batman' Movie With Christian Bale Almost Happened But He Said No

Yes, we could have gotten the fourth movie in the esteemed Nolanverse. I know, I know, but try and hold back your tears Batman fans.

The Robert Pattinson Batman movie is on the way, and despite what you think, chances are it'll actually be amazing.

One of the best 'Batman' series of all time was the Christopher Nolan Trilogy.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises were great, but the coup de gras was The Dark Knight, which still sits on "Best Movies Of All Time" lists on websites all over the internet.

But did you know there could have been a fourth one?

But the star of the series, Batman himself said no.

He talked to the good ol' Toronto Sun about the movies recently and started by saying they didn't even think they'd get past one movie.

"We never were arrogant to assume that we had an opportunity beyond one film at a time. That's something that Chris always would talk about. He'd say, 'This is it. We're making one film. That's all we've got."

But obviously, they made a couple more than one.

So where does this fourth film come in? Well, he talks about that:

"Chris [Nolan] had always said to me that if we were fortunate to be able to make three we would stop. 'Let's walk away after that".

"Then when they inevitably came to us and said, 'How about a No. 4?' I said, 'No. We have to stick to Chris' dream, which was always to, hopefully, do a trilogy. Let's not stretch too far and become overindulgent and go for a fourth.'"

So there you go.

Christian Bale didn't want to do a fourth not only because it was Christopher Nolan's original plan, but because they didn't want the last one to suck.
