Dr. Oz Says Dog The Bounty Hunter Is 'Running From The Truth' About His Health

Duane 'Dog' Chapman, best known for his work as a bounty hunter on Dog The Bounty Hunter and Dog's Most Wanted has a hard year when it comes to his personal life and his health. After the loss of his wife, Beth, in June, Dog has been suffering both emotionally and physically with grief.

In September, Dog was hospitalized for a 'heart emergency.'

While Dog initially stated that he believed he was suffering from a broken heart, it was later revealed he had a pulmonary embolism that had traveled to his heart on The Dr. Oz Show.

"You're a ticking time bomb," Dr. Oz told Dog at the time.

"You’re not going to be here with the heart the way it is right now," he said.

That seemed to be what Dog needed to hear, as he is now on blood thinners and a healthier diet.

However, Dr. Oz has now revealed that getting Dog to appear on the show was not an easy task.

"He's the bounty hunter but we were literally hunting him," Dr. Oz said. "I was in the hospital and he had signed out of a hospital against medical advice, which to a doctor is a really bad sign. It means you're running from the truth."

"He had a broken heart and people do die from a broken heart," Dr. Oz continued.

"Mostly because they give up hope and she was his North Star," he explained. Still, Dr. Oz is now hopeful about Dog's health.

"He has completely changed his life. He used to smoke four packs a day, started when he was 12 and that's part of the reason his blood was sticky," he said. "He's down to one pack a day."
