Well, considering they made him an old man in Endgame , we were pretty sure of this decision anyways.
Then again… there was always hope for prequel movies with Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos.
‘Endgame’ saw the end for many of our favorite heroes.

The one that sticks out in people’s minds is obviously Tony Stark, who died at the end of Endgame .
However, Captain America also met his end, going back in time to live his life with Agent Carter.
So, that was it, the end of Chris Evans’ run as Captain America. He passed the shield off to Falcon (Anthony Mackie).

While his cinematic run was over, there was always hope for TV shows (considering DIsney+ is coming out) where Cap teamed up with his pal Bucky Barnes.
Well, you can dash that hope.

Because it seems Marvel writers don’t want Chris Evans to be Captain America anymore.
Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (the writers of _Avengers: Endgame) recently sat down with Screen Rant to discuss their feelings about Chris returning.
And it was and wasn’t positive, at least for fans.

“I love writing for Cap, I love Evans. But I really feel, much like Tony, we got them to a place where they don’t need to do it anymore. I’d hate to gin up something hokey to get them back” said Markus.
Well, there you have it, folks. Evans is out.
