Brooke Shields Refused To Sleep With JFK Jr. On Date
Interview With Howard Stern
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, the host asked Shields about the men she’s been linked to. She mentioned the late attorney, who was affectionately called John-John.
'So Madly In Love With Him'
When Stern said they would have made the perfect couple, she confirmed that she was “so madly in love with him.”
Her Mom Approved
“Since the time I was like 3, my mom would say, ‘That’s the boy you’re gonna marry,’” she noted.
First Meeting And First Date
Next, she recalled meeting him in Aspen and going out on a date with him. “He kept saying I looked like his mother, which was really interesting,” she recalled.
What Happened During The Date?
The Pretty Baby star described how the date went, saying they first headed to a bar with his family.
They Went To His Hotel
When things got a little rowdy there, John-John asked if she wanted to go somewhere else. She said yes, and they went to his hotel in a cab.
'Best Kiss I've Ever Had'
Things then took a steamy turn. Shields described how he kissed her, saying “It was the best kiss I’ve ever had in my life.”
But She Refused To Take It Further
However, she revealed that she “froze” and refused to sleep with him.
“[I]t was so precious to me and I was like, oh my God, you’re falling in love and if you sleep with him, he may not talk to you again and you can’t handle that,” she said.
Afraid Of Getting Hurt
She added that she “wasn’t playing a game” but, instead, feared that she would get hurt.
“[I]f I slept with him, I would have given him my entire universe, my heart, my everything,” she explained.
'Less Than Chivalrous'
What happened next was heartbreaking – the Blue Lagoon star went home alone in a cab, “which was a little less than chivalrous,” she said with an ironic laugh.
Stern agreed that it was a horrible thing to do and that John-John should have driven her home and made sure she was safe.
The Day After
The next day, they saw each other on the ski slope and he ignored her. He wouldn’t even look at her.
She had mixed emotions about that, feeling bad on the one hand yet relieved on the other. In the end, she knew she made the right decision because he still might not have cared about her even if she’d given in to his sexual advances.
'Showed His True Colors'
“He showed his true colors in that,” she said, to which Stern wholeheartedly agreed.
His Marriage And Death
The political scion went on to marry Carolyn Bessette, a publicist for Calvin Klein, in 1996. Three years later, they both tragically died in a plane crash.
Her Relationships And Marriage To Andre Agassi
Shields, meanwhile, dated a number of Hollywood actors, including Dean Cain and Liam Neeson, before marrying tennis star Andre Agassi in 1997.
The marriage lasted only two years. They divorced in 1999, and she revealed years later that the split was caused by his crystal meth addiction.
Her Current Husband And Children
In 2001, the Suddenly Susan star married film director Chris Henchy. They have two daughters, 19-year-old Rowan and 16-year-old Grier, and they’re still going strong today.
