Olivia Wilde Triumphs in Child Custody Dispute with Sudeikis

On March 24, 2023, Olivia and Jason were meant to appear in court for a custody hearing as their bitter legal battle over their children — Otis, 8, and Daisy, 6 — continues.

The 47-year-old actor requested to move the case from California to New York. However, Olivia argued that the case had already been settled and should remain in California.

Olivia also contended that the kids were living in California and had no reason to move, noting that Daisy had never attended school in New York and Otis only attended one semester of Kindergarten in New York in 2019. 

Olivia's lawyers also claimed that the actress knew her ex-boyfriend was wealthier, even though Jason chose to keep his current finances under wraps.

Furthermore, the actress claimed in the court documents that things were moving toward a more amicable solution earlier this year, but she was blindsided when she learned of Jason's legal tactics.

"We were scheduled to start working with a family therapist in California in mid-January. I thought things were calming down and were going to move forward in a more amicable, respectful fashion," Olivia claimed in her declaration.

However, Olivia claimed she learned on January 10, 2023, that while she was negotiating the parenting schedule in California, Jason was plotting to proceed with New York child support proceedings behind her back.

Olivia alleged that Jason had learned that the court date for their first appearance was January 4, 2023, and deliberately didn't inform her or her lawyers. As a result, the actress and her lawyers were absent.

Fortunately for the actress, 39-year-old New York Magistrate Adele Alexis Harris agreed with all her points, deciding that it was in the interest of substantial justice that the petition be heard in California.

In new court documents, Olivia accused Jason of trying to put her into debt with the custody battle. The actress's lawyers noted that while Jason could afford to "spin the wheels with filing after filing," Olivia could not.

The court papers obtained by Daily Mail further noted that Jason seemed intent on throwing whatever he could against the wall to see what would stick, and his latest petition was an example.

The Don't Worry Darling star also accused Jason of being underhanded and acting in bad faith over their kids' future.

"I am completely perplexed at why he believes that engaging in intimidation or trickery will serve him or our children's best interests," Olivia noted.

Meanwhile, the judge's recent decision is not the first time a judge is ruling against Jason's plea for his children to reside on the east coast. 

In 2022, the actor filed a motion to halt a California order that ruled Otis and Daisy should live in the golden state. But in a big win for Olivia, a judge rejected Jason's request to move the case to New York. 

Olivia and Jason became romantically involved in 2011 after meeting at the season 36 Saturday Night Live season wrap afterparty.

Sadly, after dating for nearly a decade, Olivia and Jason parted ways in 2020. Following their breakup, the pair seemed to be on the same page, putting their relationship first.

However, everything changed in January 2021 with rumors that Olivia and Harry Styles were dating, which the latter later confirmed.

Then in April 2022, Olivia was slammed with child custody papers while giving a speech on her newest movie. Since then, it has been anything but peace between the duo, though there is still hope for a reconciliation.
