Jason Sudeikis Takes Big Step In Custody Battle With Olivia Wilde

Jason Sudeikis is reportedly trying to prolong his case with Olivia Wilde to "litigate her into debt." The actor has been accused of trying to win custody of his child by making new lawsuits against Wilde.

Wilde's lawyer clarified to the court that Sudeikis was trying all possible means to get the case to go in his favor. "Jason seems intent on throwing whatever he can against the wall to see what will stick, and this Request for Order seeking a stay of the California Parentage action is just the latest example."

Wilde has accused Sudeikis of being "underhanded" and acting "in bad faith" regarding the future of their children, Otis and Daisy.

Olivia Wilde's lawyer also mentioned that while Sudeikis can lavishly spend on litigations to favor his cause, her client can't. "While Jason can afford to spin his wheels with filing after filing, Olivia cannot."

Ted Lasso star actor filed a motion to stop a California court from ordering his children to live with Wilde in the Golden State. Sudeikis wants the children to reside with him on the East Coast.

The court hearing for Wilde and Sudeikis' case was scheduled for Friday. Their case was to battle whether the California or New York court was best for handling their child custody case.

The 39-year-old mother of two refers to the matter as already being settled to be in Los Angeles, but Sudeikis is "obfuscating" the case to have all future hearings in Brooklyn.

Bringing the hearing to a close, TMZ reported that victory was awarded to Olivia Wilde for the case to be held in California, not New York.

Based on evidence provided, Sudeikis' plea to have the case moved to New York was rejected in August 2022.

Olivia Wilde stood her ground that their children had no reason to move to New York from California. Adding that they haven't really ever lived there — their daughter Daisy never attended school there, and Otis did only one semester of Kindergarten in New York in 2019.

In one of Olivia's claims to the judge, she stated that Jason Sudeikis blindsided her when it looked like an amicable solution was budding. But she soon learned of his tactics of keeping information from her.

In her words, "We were scheduled to start working with a family therapist in California in mid-January. I thought things were calming down and were going to move forward in a more amicable, respectful fashion."

She added, "Instead, I learned on January 10, 2023 that the entire time I was negotiating the parenting time schedule in California, [Jason] was plotting to proceed with the New York Child Support proceeding behind my back."

Jason Sudeikis' finances remain undisclosed to the public and Wilde. Her lawyers had this to say about it: "While the details of Jason's finances are presently unknown as he refused to substantively respond to basic discovery, she is aware that he is far wealthier than she is."

Wilde also mentions to the court that Sudeikis hid details for their first court appearance on January 4, 2023 from her. And not having knowledge of the date, both she and her lawyers were absent from court.

Olivia Wilde refers to Jason's hoarding of vital information as his trickery, which she says doesn't work well in their children's interests. "[Jason's] underhandedness and bad faith in these proceedings is astounding. I am completely perplexed at why he believes that engaging in intimidation or trickery will serve him or our children's best interests."

It seemed like all was going well for the co-parents when they were spotted hugging it out in Los Angeles earlier this year. The two looked to have re-ignited their friendship, but their latest court case proves otherwise. 

The pair have had this legal custody battle going on for several years, but it was majorly prolonged because of Sudeikis' continuous litigation of the case hearing in New York. 

One controversial incident of their custody case was when Sudeikis served Wilde legal papers while she was facing 4,000 industry insiders on stage. Sudeikis apologized to her about the incident, but the case continued until its hearing location ended.
